Head Down to the Playoffs
« on: February 12, 2018, 11:44:30 AM »
Gold teams have earned a 1st round bye.  Green teams are locked into a playoff spot.  Top 10 teams make the playoffs with the 1st 6 getting that important 1st round bye.

5 playoff spots have been locked up.  1 First round bye has been earned.  Still alot of movement can happen in the 4 through 16 spots.

1    Winnipeg Jets   (34-4) -  Went 2-0 last week to cement their 1st round bye.

2    St. Louis Blues   (30-8) - 2-0 last week.  Remaining games Washington/Winnipeg, Toronto/Vancouver, Carolina/Pittsburgh.     A Lou Feriggno style muscle flexing with a 231 point week.  The Blues are purring on all kittens. Also have that 1st round bye locked in.

3    Carolina Hurricanes   (30-8) - 2-0 last week.  Remaining against New York/Philly, Boston/Tampa, and Detroit/St.Louis.  Gibson came off of IR real quick like and it looks like these Hurricanes could do some damage with a league leading 240 point week.  Essentially locked in 1st round bye

4    Colorado Avalanche   (27-11) - 1-1 last week. They caught a hot Blues team last week and then put a damper on the Bruins playoff chances.  Remaining games Anaheim/Detroit, Arizona/Edmonton, Buffalo/Montreal.  They've locked into a playoff spot.

5    Anaheim Ducks   (27-11)  -  Great week for the Ducks going 2-0 with a real tight match against the Oilers.  With those wins they locked into a playoff spot.

6    Buffalo Sabres   (25-13) - They went 1-1 last week to keep themselves in the thick of things.  Games remain against Anaheim/Edmonton, Arizona/Montreal, Colorado/Winnipeg.  They scored a fantastic 211 points last week, so they are heating up, but they ran into the Blues.  Look to be on pace for that playoff birth and close to a 1st round bye.

7    Vancouver Canucks   (23-15) - Last week went 1-1 .  Remaining games against Boston/Tampa, Detroit/St.Louis, Anaheim/Edmonton.

8    Philadelphia Flyers   (23-15) Previously 10th  - A big time 2-0 against Vancouver and Toronto last week. Plays Arizona/Buffalo, Colorado/Winnipeg, and Vancouver/Washington over the coming weeks.

9   Edmonton Oilers   (22-16)  Previously 8th -    Went 1-1 last week to keep afloat.

10     Boston Bruins   (21-17)  Previously 9th -  A disappointing 0-2 to push this team right on the playoff bubble.

11    Washington Capitals   (20-18) -    1-1 last week.  Need to go at least 3-3 and continue to score more points to bump the Bruins out of the playoffs.

12    Toronto Maple Leafs   (20-18) - 1-1 last week.  3 tough games, 3 easy games.  With the Bruins coming back to this pack anything can happen especially if the NHL Maple Leafs start piling on the goals.  I'd give them the nod now to take over the Bruins spot.

13    Montreal Canadiens   (19-19) - 1-1 last week.  Another solid week, but ran into a hot Oilers team.

14    Tampa Bay Lightning   (17-21)  1-1 last week.  They need to go 6-0 the rest of the way as they don't have enough points to break ties.

My Bishop trade looks real bad right now.

Subban - went to IR.
McCabe - went to IR.
Dal Colle - probably not being called up this year.

I'm a moron.

doesnt take long for team to get back in to compete. I was out of a playoff spot 2 seasons ago , the next season i was right back into top 5.

I think I may need a reset year if I'm going to compete with some of the top dogs.  I legit thought I had a contender going into this season with my well rounded D-core and crossing my fingers that I'd get lucky with goalies.  I can't even blame injuries since Parise is the only guy that's missed any real time.

I hope to be back in the thick of things next year. I was moreso making a joke with my previous comment. Though all my starting goalies are eligible for Medicare/Social Security. At least I've still got like 3 more years of Howard as Detroit's undisputed starter  :taco:

  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...

  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.

  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool

  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).

  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.

  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen
    Yesterday at 01:52:08 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning
    Yesterday at 01:52:22 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them
    Yesterday at 01:53:06 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Yesterday at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Yesterday at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Yesterday at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Yesterday at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Yesterday at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    Yesterday at 03:14:39 PM

  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Yesterday at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.

  • Brent: Who did you draft with the 1st acquired in that trade?
  • Daddy: Whoever it was, he got six more choices on top of that. The "win win" scenario.
  • Daddy: At that time i had no RB1. So i traded an entire draft class to get one.
  • Daddy: SF doubled up his pick haul and went to work, using them in trades & draft return.
