WHO TO PROTECT IN EXPANSION DRAFT?

Just out of curiousity. Would players like Labanc who were drafted in the late rounds of previous entry drafts(but not by a team in FNHL) have been eligible to be picked in the one we had in September or is the draft restricted to guys drafted by NHL teams that year?

Short Ans is NO.
Only players eligible for same yr NHL draft as FNHL Draft can be picked.
Others that were passed over in older drafts are simply Free agents

Kirill is exempt.  Same with dumoulin.  Maybe even Lablanc.

Do they need to have the EL designation to be exempt in FNHL? I know those guys should be exempt since they are like 20 years old.

It's the FNHL contract.  Any contract that started in 2015 or later is exempt.  Assuming that is the first contract they signed here.
