Title: FNHL ENTRY DRAFT DATE
Post by: Daddy on July 06, 2017, 09:52:08 PM
I have no complaints, I would like to ask why the entry draft starts in September when ending in September would seem to be more ideal wouldn't it?

Since its an entry draft, why wouldn't we want to start it in say July right after the NHLs draft? Is this something that can be voted on?

I usually don't participate in the draft so it's never really come to my attention. Just seems like it wouldn't hurt anything to be knocking the draft out in the background of the off-season.

Thanks for listening Gents  :toast:

May-July was meant to be FNHL's 3mth break.
This yr with the Vegas Expansion Draft we've been more active in June & now July.
August is meant for Free Agency.
So September made sense for the FNHL Entry Draft after owners got 2months to review prospects. Also because FNHL only allows for current yr NHL draftees to be picked, it makes sense to give owners a little more time to feel out the prospects.

I have a feeling Vegas will have their pick of anyone not named Nico or Nolan.  :winner:

Who's Daddy leaning towards at three is the million dollar question.

I'd go offense, given how he drafted in the expansion draft.

Having added each player to Daddy's Vegas roster, I can easily say he's way better than most of the league. Given he doesn't usually own MiLR players, he's all set to roll for the 2017-18. As is, I'd say he'd finish top 16. Afterall, his :LV: G-Knights are in the Pacific Division.

I'm real big on the best available player. The guy we draft should be a cornerstone for Vegas the next 10 seasons.

Since we draft 3rd, after evaluating the class, we already know who we are drafting. We've narrowed it to one of three, knowing one of them is coming to Vegas.

I personally like the draft in Sept when we get updates on their progress at camp.

I like doing it how the NHL does. I only want amateur information which makes it a higher chance for error, and higher degree of difficulty.

I also believe 3 months of inactivity is a mistake for a fantasy league. The most fun should be the off-season. Look at the NBA, team's swapping stars for cheap via trade, FA, young exciting new draft picks.

I think our off-season will be enhanced by starting the draft in July, allowing a nice easy slow draft, 4 rounds, in the background of the isolated FA periods and trading periods, and the only focus when those periods are over.

Maybe I'm in the minority, I usually am, maybe it comes down to preferences?

I won't be drafting much anyway
Vegas is putting it's entire 2018 class on the trade block (a la Tampa).  :koolaid:

I for one LOVE the off-season especially the Draft. Most of my time durrung the season i am "scouting". I watch a lot of OHL, WHL, and QMJHL.. Plus i get to a few USHL games to watch the next years draft class. Its a littke over the top but it kerps me out of trouble.

The FNHL draft can actually start as soon as the first pick is made. If some of you remember i went out in a limb and selected Connor McDavid first over all. I will say this once that first pick is made CBJ will make thier selection.

Carolina isn't planning on picking until September 12. Even though it would be fun to hold it right now it will be even more fun to do it right before camp opens.

I really don't know who I'd take if I had to pick today and I don't really see any benefit to picking before I have to.

Now if the blue jackets want to come get the first pick and start the draft today I'm willing to listen to offers    :toast:

I'm not inspired to rrade up this yr. There's no McDavid or Eichel. Matthews and Laine were also worth the effort. But this yr. Oufff.
