Lakers confirm the trade

Sacrifice future talent and younger talent to get a slight upgrade on Beal for the short-term to compete right now.

Lebron is probably dead money in the 4th year of this contract but our winning window is 1-3 years I think anyways so it fits.

This one is very tough for me. I don't think the value for Lebron is too bad with Beal/1st the main pieces. My hesitation to approve is all the money being paid plus also Beal expiring given hawks are not competing this year and not sure if he would be franchise tagged.

Will hold off officially voting and let's see what rest of TC says

That's fine but likewise shouldn't be considered when we're evaluating the fairness of the trade. Right now I'm basically seeing Beal on an expiring contract and a 1st round pick in the 17-20 range for Lebron James at $10m/yr until 2021. I can't call that a fair trade in any capacity. Unless the Hawks owner can convince me that they are completely sold on one of those other guys developing into a star, this is an easy :veto: from me. If Hawks wants to pm me with his reasoning on why those other 3 (scrubs imho) will make up the massive discrepancy in value, AND it makes some logical sense, then I will consider changing my vote.

Given we have 1 veto and both teams here are part of TC, as per PMs sent out I would like to hear from the remaining 3 TC members even if 48h passes before they vote (I hope decision will still come before game time tomorrow)

:iatp:  It’s a tough call, but I’ll defer to each owner having a plan for their team and what is best for it.

I have been thinking about this trade for days.  This is essentially the #2 player in BoD being traded for half value with $10M/yr being paid on him.  I don't see Beal being franchise tagged at $29M/yr or whatever it is, the average of the top 8 SG is high.  However, there is enough value going back to allow this trade.   :iatp:

Tc has spoken, deal passes.  :judge:

I was considering vetoing but my vote would not change outcome as it would still take 3rd. Plus for most part I also do think if there is no collusiom and the 2 GMs are happy deals should get approved.

While this deal passed, Hawks do not have enough this year to take on the difference as the team currently is.

Brian, please let me know how you want to shuffle around your roster as I will update this tomorrow. FYI- you have 1.3m in cap right now but taking on 3.8m extra cap (although some guys are eligible for dleague).
