Tampa Bay Rays History
2020:
4th in East Division (42-18)
Relying on the arms of Blake Snell and Dakota Hudson, along withthe bats of Manny Machado and Charlie Blackmon, the
had high aspirations. But, alas, those hopes and aspirations were dashed and they just missed the playoffs. The
were certainly competitive, but amidst the challenges of a shortened season, they did not have enough to qualify for the post-season.
2019:
1st in AL East (132-30) AL Pennant Winner
The season started with the unfortunate retiring of HOF Adrian Beltre, but still had Machado, Chucknazty, and Stanton to lead in addition to the strong bullpen. The Rays continued success with a 2nd consecutive impressive regular season, finishing with the best record in the American League. The Rays attempted to have more veteran depth with additions of Shin Shoo and Markakis in addition to budget additions in adding Hader, Arraez, Guerriel, Urshela, and Hanser Alberto. Jorge Soler had a huge 40+ HR season to replace the injured Stanton.
had its season end abruptly with a ALDS loss to Cinderella
.
2018:
1st in AL East (120-42) AL Pennant Winner
With a flurrry of moves that included adding Manny Machado (2018 #4MI), Giancarlo Stanton, Francisco Cervelli, and Charlie Blackmon via trade and Daniel Murphy via FA, the Rays jumped into contention after a mass rebuild which saw TB carry 14 top 100 prospects after 2017. After winning the division,
defeated
in the division series and then
in the ALCS before the defeat to
in the World Series.
2017:
3rd in AL East (78-84)
2016:
4th in AL East (85-71)
2015:
3rd in AL East (57-33)
2014:
2nd in AL East (101-40)
2013:
1st in AL East (112-29)
2012:
3rd in AL East (79-81)
2011:
4th in AL East (78-84)
The Rays hung it up early in the season after Posey was knocked out for the year and Evan Longoria continued to struggle. The team finished with the same record as 2010, but with an even brighter future with $30m in cap space headed into 2012.
2010:
4th in AL East (78-84)
The offseason brought about two attempts for new management and the second one brought in a true fan of the Rays. Michael Bailey didn't need to do much but fixed the bullpen, added a couple catchers, and stole Ian Desmond off the waiver wire. His team entered 2010 as a contender but with possible changes on the horizon with veterans Crawford, Pena, and Burrell all at the end of their contracts. The Rays started the season very poorly and Crawford was eventually dealt to the Tigers in a big multi-player deal that landed the Rays Hanley Ramirez.
2009:
3rd in AL East (91-71)
Like the real Rays, 3rd in the AL East was not going to cut it. The extrapolated roto standings gave the 2008 AL Champs a 90+ win season, but it wasn't enough as they finish 5th in the NL.

Been starting to get into these older games that originally ran off DOSBOX for those who know what I'm talking about. The idea is you build your team with a salary of XXX and then every 2-3 seasons you have decisions to make. Field a 26 man roster, control your own pitching rotation, pen, lineup & bench like the true MLB. Draft every season where there's a lot of turnover. Interesting for sure.

NFL Report: Commanders' rookie QB Jayden Daniels may soon be banned from the NFL Jayden Daniels, the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 Draft, has made a huge mistake that could get him banned from the NFL even before making his debut with the Washington Commanders. NFL News: Commanders' president unveils team's plans for name change NFL News: Magic Johnson makes his first big decision as co-owner of the Commanders Updated on May 10, 2024 10:51AM EDT Jayden Daniels was selected by the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL Draft ? Julio Aguilar/Getty ImagesJayden Daniels was selected by the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL Draft By Fernando Franco Puga The Washington Commanders have received some very bad news. Jayden Daniels, who they picked with the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 Draft, may soon be banned from the NFL after violating a very important rule. In the 2024 NFL Draft, several teams were in need of a top quarterback to bolster their offenses. With the 2nd overall pick, the Commanders decided to select Jayden Daniels, one of the best prospects at the position. Daniels had a remarkable path through LSU, even breaking some of Joe Burrow’s records. However, the quarterback’s career is now in jeopardy after he admitted to breaking the league’s rules regarding gambling. Jayden Daniels openly admits to violating the NFL’s gambling policy Worrying news has arrived in Washington today. Jayden Daniels, their 1st-round pick this year, has openly admitted to violating the NFL’s gambling policy, and his rookie season is in jeopardy. NFL Draft: Jayden Daniels admits whether he'd like to play for the Washington Commanders SEE ALSO NFL Draft: Jayden Daniels admits whether he'd like to play for the Washington Commanders During a recent appearance on the “All Facts, No Brakes” podcast, Daniels revealed that he has a bet with Malik Nabers, the New York Giants‘ 6th overall pick, on who’s going to be this year’s NFL Offensive rookie. “Man, he wasn’t supposed to tell nobody,” Daniels said about Nabers revealing the bet. “We got a little something going on. I mean, he put it out there, so it’s like I can’t say he cap.” Keyshawn Johnson, host of the podcast, asked Daniels about the bet. The quarterback admitted that the wager for $10,000 is real, but he was clearly uncomfortable with the question. Jayden Daniels Jayden Daniels with LSU “Going against him is gonna be fun,” Nabers said, via the New York Daily News. “We got a bet going for Rookie of the Year. Whoever loses gotta pay, I think it’s $10,000 cash.” Nabers and Daniels were teammates at LSU. They are set to meet in at least two games in the upcoming season. However, this gamble could get them both banned from the NFL, as they are clearly violating the league’s gambling policy. What does the NFL gambling policy says about betting? This situation will pose a huge challenge for the Commanders and the Giants. The league strictly prohibits players from engaging in any form of gambling related to the NFL, as it undermines the integrity of the game. SEE ALSO 2024 NFL Draft picks by team: How many picks does each team have? The policy explicitly prohibits ‘private wagers between teammates, family and friends, or others.’ This situation could land the two rookies in trouble, potentially resulting in a ban for the former LSU players.
