Title: News Flash: The off-season changeover is in progress
Post by: Flash on August 21, 2018, 12:44:59 PM
With the playoffs beginning, and about to be in full-swing, it’s time for all teams to make some roster decisions for the 2019 season.

1) Extensions for players on expiring contracts;
2) Prospect extensions for all (P-2018) players.
3) Clearing roster space for potential draftees in our FYPD.

Remember, on September 24th, the off-season begins and all players on expiring 2018 contracts will become free agents.  (P-2018)s have until December 31st to be extended, but why wait?

All players who were on expiring regular contracts, and who were not extended, have been released to the free agent pool.

All teams will be updated this week as we initiate a changeover to 2019.  The teams with (P-2018) player will continue to see them on your Fantrax and ProFSL rosters—but they will not have a posted contract.  (P-2018) Extensions will still utilize the 2018 Extension Values Scale.  The 2018 Extensions can be found at the following link:

Salary caps for 2019 are set, with the 2020 salary caps being posted during the week.

Please don’t ask if you can post extensions for players who were dropped from your roster.

The salary caps have been updated and reflect what your caps will bee for 2019 and 2020.

ProFSL rosters have been updated—please check to make sure your roster is correct.  It would also be helpful if each GM checked, and posted, which of their prospects have passed their rookie threshold.  I will review each roster during the next couple of months leading into free agency, but any assistance you can provide will be very much appreciated.

For those of you with (P-2018) players, it would be great if you made a decision on whether you wanted to extend them.  You have until December 31st, but why not do it sooner rather than later?

Finally, our FYPD is about 24 days away.  You are not required to participate in the FYPD, but if you decide to give it a go, here are some things to keep in mind.  The draft will be on a 12 hour clock during the 1st Round.  We no longer have a Compensatory Round, so Rounds 2 - 10 will be on an 8 hour clock.  This will be a continuous clock, with no overnight stoppage, so if you might want to entertain the idea of sending us a prioritized list of draftees so you don’t miss out because your pick begins in the wee hours of the night.

Some of you have full MiLB rosters, so it might be a good time to review those rosters and make some decisions regarding promotion or release.  Further, Rick and I will send out PM reminders regarding who is On the Clock, On Deck and In the Hole, but in the interest of the entire league, if you want to be on Autopick, please let us know. With that in mind, since this is a 10 Round FYPD, please be aware that we will not make an autopick if there are no MiLB roster places available (unless you direct us to place your picks on your MLB Roster).

We would also like to remind you that if you miss a pick, it cannot be made up.  If your time expires, we will give you an autopick, as we have done in the past, under the conditions listed above.  If your MiLB roster is full, your turn will be skipped, unless you let us know you want your pick to be placed on your MLB roster.

Please don’t view any of this as “hard line” or “ inflexible”, all of these things are an effort to have an active draft where we have active participation.  It is quite frustrating to have the draft bogged down by inactivity.  Hopefully, this year will feature more activity and run smoother.

This has been sent out through a league wide PM.
