POWER RANKINGS 10-24-2011
« on: October 24, 2011, 05:06:34 PM »
This was just based on who has scored the most points.  I tried to make it funny.

1.   Hawks (2-0) - Lehtonen's fast start has carried the Hawks to the top.  So, the question on everyones' mind is when will Hossa get hurt?

2.   Capitals (2-0) - Multiple starting goalies and Milan Michalek lighting it up, plus the Capitals remembered how to score goals.  Lucky for them fantasy playoffs start in the regular season.

3.   Leafs  (2-0) - Sweet sassy molassy.  All of Toronto is converting to Christianity because Reimer is their savior.

4.   Red Wings (1-1) - A mash up of the best between the Red Wings and Islanders teams = a potent fantasy squad

5.   Hurricanes (1-1) - Jeff Skinner forgot about Sophmore slumps.  Watch out if Eric Staal decides to call his brother Jordan for a lesson on wanting to play hockey.

6.   Kings (1-1) - Quick has 3 straight shut outs... Seriously.  Kopitar is playing as good as Kane is playing bad.

7.   Flyers (1-1) - probably would be #1 if Jeff Carter didn't break his foot tripping over the expectation bar that hit the floor after the Blue Jackets lost their first 8 games.

8.   Bruins (1-1) - Seguin is the real deal and Markstrom is looking like an every day starter.  Bruins could be on the rise.

9.   Sabres (1-1) - with 6 less players then almost every other team they are scoring all the points.  My NHL 2012 had Vanek winning the Art Ross.  Maybe in real life too>

10.   Penguins(1-1)  - FINALLY the penguins have a winger that score goals.  James "banana peel" Neal.  When Crosby comes back I wouldn't want to play them.

11.   Ducks (1-1) - Brandon Dubinsky is gathering PIM's like Pokemon which is both a waste of time in real life and fantasy.

12.   Blues (1-1) - shooter47 also cried tears of joy when Booth was traded to the Canucks.

13.   Canucks (1-1) - I wish ill will towards Jaromir Jagr, and the Sedin twins are stupid good.  I wish one would sport a mustache so I know which one is the evil twin.

14.   Oilers (0-2) - Sheldon Souray isn't a massive bust and Nugent-Hopkins is making everyone remember people with hyphenated names aren't just women who refuse to take their husband's name.

15.   Canadiens (0-2) - Markov will never play hockey again, but luckily Subban has stepped up and is a -6.  I guess he has stepped it up only a smidgen.

16.   Stars (1-1) - They are playing like they wanted to move to Winnipeg.  They need to let the Goose loose!

17.   Sharks  (1-1) -  The sharks are bringing their playoff game mentality to the regular season which only means that little Joe has supplanted big Joe

18.   Lightning (2-0) - Either the new rules have made Ryan Malone afraid to hit or the fact that he only plays 40 games a year because of (insert any injury) will eventually pop up.

19.   Avalanche (0-2) - I miss Malkin too...

20.   Flames (0-2) -  NHL GM's don't pay enough respect to goalies.  Gilly did the same thing and it won't work out for any of them until they do.

Great stuff Corey!  Cracked me up a few times... If we can get you to do this regularly (once a month of so?) it would fill me with great elation and joyfulness!

The Lightning are indeed 2-0.  Yeah I can probably do this every now and then.  No problem

This is pretty good!! Perhaps I OVERVALUED goalies... I took Backstrom which put me right up against the cap, and left me no room to sign other players.

Live and Learn, I guess... The Flyers only beat me by 2 POINTS last week!

Brandon (Fantasy Nightmares, Lightning GM) has been ill and in and out of the hospital for a couple months now.  I'm not sure exactly what's wrong but his wife pops on every now and then to let us know he still wants to keep his teams and will be back in the swing of things soon.  He's had some great luck to start out winning his first two matchups without rotating any players, so at least he's not starting off in the hole.

  • Alpha5: If a team has 2 QB1s another team has none. If a team in baseball has 2 1B it doesn't leave a team without one.
  • Alpha5: That's what I mean by limited assets
    Today at 09:09:53 AM
  • Brent: And that's why I haven't traded Carr yet.  Someone doesn't have a QB or thinks they'll get one in FA/draft and might be left wanting.
  • Daddy: @Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.
  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.
