I am putting myself on the waiting list. This league looks great.

I'm going to have to cancel my application to the league because of a commitment over the summer that won't allow me to access the computer enough. This league looks great, have a great season. Thank you, Griffin

To anyone who has posted here and still looking for a team...

To all current and future members,

Kris (Kdoc09) and I are trying to assemble a new league that will be a spin-off of the Franchise GM brand name. The current name of this league will be RFGM, or Retro Franchise GM - name subject to change.

The gist of this league will almost be exact to that of FGM. There will be several minor changes, and a few major changes. More information on the minor changes will be available once the league page is set up. The major difference between this league, and FGM is that we are going by the old four division format. Meaning that the Rockies, Rays, D'Backs, and Marlins have now been retracted. Those players from those teams will be entered into the first ever retraction draft, which will follow the draft order of the upcoming entry draft.

Rosters will be according to the current MLB 40 man rosters. After a GM has been chosen, he will be allowed to choose 10 prospects from his teams minor league system, to fill out that teams EDR. Anyone not chosen will become a free agent. Each team will be allowed to cut up to 15 million in payroll without penalty. Each player cut, grants you a pick in the retraction draft. The draft will only be four rounds, so if you cut more than 3 players, you will still only get 3 picks. After your gratis salary slash has been processed, same rules apply as FGM, for players cut while under contract.

Contracts will be the same as in FGM. As I said, once we have a full league, their will be a few tweaks made to the FGM rules, but nothing major. Lastly, and this is a major part of this league, you have to be a fan of the team you take over. If your team has already been taken, then please request another, and a reason why you should be considered for it. Proximity, favorite player(s), etc.

If you are unaware of what the divisions looked like back in the day, please follow this link...
http://www.shrpsports.com/mlb/stand/1986finaldiv.htm

Teams already claimed...
Mets - Me
Angels - Kris
White Sox - Jake
Pirates - Colby
Yanks - Roy
Reds - Rick (Bhows)
Giants - Flash - only one man for that job
Braves - Millertime
Brewers - Corey -
Instance where a favorite team was picked, but he has a proximity to Miller Park, likes the Brewers, and hates the Cubs.

This is just another way for us to expand on the FGM brand, so please post at the link below if you would like to be considered for a GM position.

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Yesterday at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    Yesterday at 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
