Franchise GM: Completed Transactions / Angels/Yankees Deal
« on: May 17, 2011, 11:24:35 PM »
Angels Trade:

SP Sabathia, CC, $23m (2015)Pay 5M of CC Contarct this year only
CI-OF Hinske, Eric, $0.5m (2011)

For

OF Wells, Vernon, $18m (2014)
P Rogers, Esmil, $1.5m (2012)

Well don't care too much for big contracts but i did save a little cap in the long run by trading Sabathia.Yes i got Wells but i would rathe take my chances with wells than Sabathia as i do need outfielders.I think wells will come back and do well.Picking up Rogers is nice as he is young and i think good potential. Not going to win anything this year cause of what i inherited but i'm going to try to get better with my team, who knows if these trades will work out but i like this one

I do clear some cap and i get some servicable players this year.

Thanks

1023
Wes Helms  1.5m (2012)
X 1.5 pd by ARZ 2011
C Navarro, Dioner, $1m (2011)
CI Poythress, Rich , $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Guzman, Joel, $0.5m (P-n/a)

for

RP Jenks, Bobby, $4m (2012)

The yankees send the newly acquired Helms a few specs and Navarro to LA for Jenks. The yanks were gona be over the player limit after there recent moves, and well the Angles are looking to clear cap. Win Win for both

Thanks Dave, Angels to confirm

I accept,Clear a little cap space and get a couple of good players in Poythress and Navarro

I accept this deal as i have an abundance of pitching here.I get Lee who seems to be doing better lately and a decent pitcher in Vargas to replace one of the two pitchers i lost.

Thanks for the trade Paul

Why are you in such a hurry?

Who said anything about being in a hurry.

By the way, Derek Lowe was the 34th ranked SP in 2009 and 2010.  That would translate into $9.5m per year under our contract system.  He is currently the 8th best SP in 2011.

I know that he is,

In order for me to make this team better i need other owners to trade with me which is not happening.

You have anyone to trade?

The following comparison of the 2010 scoring between the greatest relief pitcher of all time and a relative unknown will illustrate my point better than any long-winded response about the scoring system for relief pitchers:

Mariano Rivera        584 points
Burke Badenhop     594 points

OK but you still have to use them in this league and if you look at my team anyone can see i still need to address all aspects of this team i inherited.

There is no way this should be approved.  Closers are worthless in this league and Inge is as old as balls.  How does picking up 2 35 year old guys help a rebudling team anyway.  I will be curious how the TC rules after all that chatter about protecting the lesser teams in the league, especially new owners who obviously some see as nothing more than fish food in this league.

I accept this trade.

Closers are not worthless in this league if they were then why have them.Hey,how about any of you trade me two good playing prospects for Lowe i didn't think so.I have had only 4 owners come forward to try and help me field a team out of this god awful mess.Nobody in this league would trade me a couple of young players for Derek Lowe.So not needing pitching i traded for a decent corner infielder who i can use and is playing and a closer who is the closer for Cincy.Since no one is offering me trades what can i do.Just leave the team sit and not be active at all.I traded an agiing player for an aging player and Darnell McDonald for a good RP.Since you all say that Pitching is not relevant in this league WHAT AM I TO DO.Do i trade all my players that score points in fantasy for young guys who may or may not ever get into a starting lineup with the big boys or try and get someone who plays regularly that i need to fill my roster with.WERE IS ALL THE HELP HERE FROM ALL YOU OWNERS WHO ARE HOARDING ALL THE PLAYERS YOU DON'T EVEN USE,there is nothing on the waiver wire to pick up.My thanks goes out to the 4 owners(you know who you are)for giving me a chance to even consider a trade,By the way i am not a 13 year old kid i am a 56 year old man who happens to enjoy watching an older player achieve greatness.I took on this team to see what i could do with it because i love to play.

CI Tatis, Fernando, $2m (2011)
OF Taylor, Michael, $0.5m (P-n/a)

for
CI Martinez, Francisco, $0.5m (2012)
P Tejeda, Robinson, $2m (2012)

The A's acquire Taylor who is coming off a bad year in PCL and AFL.  I believe that he has the power and ability to be a major league starter, hopefully he figures it out.  Tatis is a salary trade.  He is another high level OF spec for me.

I like Tejada, but prefer prospect contract RP.  Trading him will free up 1.5 m in 2012 and for my budget that helps.  Martinez is a good spec CI as well.

Dave, thanks for the deal, please confirm when you can.

I needed a decent RP and i get it with Tejada, giving up Taylor is hard but i needed the RP as a start.Tatis is dead wood and Martinez is a pretty decent Spect.

I accept this trade.

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development

  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen
