Title: 2011 FGM Playoffs, Fantrax Issue
Post by: Colby on August 11, 2011, 11:43:06 AM
The Fantrax Premium fee issue will be resolved in a unique way.  Free agency ends once the playoffs start in our league on August 22nd.  On August 21st, league functionality may break down since we aren't going to pay greedy Fantrax.  I will contract six teams in the league to reduce our total to 24 teams which allows the league to be free and functional in Fantrax.  These six teams will be contracted at the end of next week and will be teams that are the worst in the league and losing all of their matches by a significant amount.

Playoff teams are just about set with the Cards :STL, Brewers :MIL:, Phillies :PHI:, and Dodgers :LAD: from the National League and the Yankees :NYY:, Blue Jays :TOR:, Athletics :OAK: and either the Royals :KC: or Indians :CLE: in the American League.

Colby, I believe we may need to go to 2 divisions (American League and National League) in order to get away from the Premium League fee.  The only league I'm in that is not showing as a Premium league is New Era which has 2 leagues and 20 teams.  FGM with 6 divisions and 30 teams, AGM with 4 divisions plus contractions totaling 30 teams, Fantasy Baseball Fanatics with 6 divisions and 30 teams, and  NL Elite with 3 DIVISIONS AND 15 TEAMS are all Premium leagues.  The number of divisions appears to be more important than the number of teams.

It is the number of teams, and it actually says that this is a premium league feature in the commissioner tools.  AGM has the warning as well due to its teams.  The premium league fee kicks in for leagues with more than 24 teams.

Maybe it will work.  NL Elite only has 15 teams so it should not show as a premium league under those rules.

There is another setting that, by default, many of these leagues have turned on.  Fantrax did this as a means of tricking people into their premium leagues... i.e., trading draft picks.

It's pretty sh$tty of them to try and charge at the end of the season.  Next season is one thing, but taking a free league that's been around a few years and telling them oh yeah you can't finish your season unless you pay us... bad enough that I would write them a nasty gram and start looking for other hosts.

ESPN or Yahoo might be looked at I suppose, but Fleaflicker always was free and had a multitude of options. Just throwing my 2 cents into this.

This is why the ProFSL scoring service is such a huge focus of mine.  I am waiting to hear from the developer, but this assures we move next year.  ESPN and Yahoo max out at 20 teams.

Is there a drop dead date for extensions?  I have Headley that will be extended, but waiting for some time while the DL drops him down to a $4m prospect extension.

Other players would need to be complete soon, especially expiring contracts that teams lose as soon as the season ends.  You may want to send this date out to people and have the ranking evaluation complete by a certain date.
