Milwaukee/Washington Deal
« on: December 18, 2019, 11:03:33 AM »
:MIL-NBA2: Recieved:
PG Jordan Clarkson $7.0(2020)
PG Reggie Jackson .5(2021)
2021 2nd round pick :WAS-NBA2: (via :VAN-NBA: )

:WAS-NBA2: Recieved:
SFChandler Hutchison $1.7(2021)
PF Taj Gibson $0.5(2021)
:MIL-NBA:  2020 1st Round Pick

Washington makes this deal for the same reasons we make the previous deal.  Clarkson was picked up so we could move up in the first round and while he has been solid, he's not a long term part of the plan.  Hutchison and the first next year, even likely being later in the draft, as well as the savings from Clarkson's contract allow me to pick up another couple young pieces and more freedom in free agency.  Thanks and good luck to Milwaukee

I'm pretty curious what Bucks think they're getting out of this.. That Clarkson contract honestly isn't good considering he's a very mild contributor (could probably match his production for pennies on the dollar in FA). Bucks 1st rounder will be low, but the 2nd rounder they get back may well be the last pick in the draft. I hope Clarkson is the final piece to Bucks' exodia because it feels like Wizards are running away with a 1st round pick and salary dump.

:MIL-NBA:  confirms, 1 of 3 of my main PG is down so i need another 1 that can contribute and im being highly bias :rool: on clarkson because hes my countryman lol and i like him, and to answer some of WizKidFromSpace questions, is my 1st rounder a overprice part of this i guess not for me it will be a late mid pick in real life NBA draft and with reggie jackson part of this trade i guess its fine, and is it really a big salary dump? for me, no.  i eat 5m  its just small for me.

Isn't Clarkson just an American? He was born in Tampa, FL on quick look-up.

I agree with what WizKid said. All of it. But...
While the trade isn't one I would necessarily do - based on the fact VanVleet is back in action this week and Clarkson is way overpaid, and as Wiz pointed out you could get similar production from FA for much cheaper (Patty Mills was just signed in FA, who is pretty well averaging the same stats as Clarkson but on the min. salary), it isn't a severe knock to the MIL franchise overall by any means. MIL eats an extra $5.3m in cap for some depth PG players and gives up a 1st Rounder.

Expensive price to pay? Yeah. But if the season ended today the 1st Rounder would be a non-lottery pick.
Clarkson's deal is done next year and MIL has a full roster next year as it is, so cap isn't a huge issue if Cloud is content with keeping the same roster.
Not sure if Cloud overlooked it, but Hutchinson can be put in the D-League to save cap, and then also just released for free after this season so there is no buy-out penalty for him (just wouldn't pick up his Team Option, so it's a free drop).

Again, I think it's pretty clear Washington is the winner here for a number of reasons, but it's not so terrible it's a veto-able trade. I don't see MIL losing all their remaining match-ups and the pick ending up being 5th overall or something like that.

I'll :iatp:

Oh, very cool.

Fair enough. I've overpaid for my fair share of hometown players or favourite players in several fantasy leagues.

Like I said, it isn't going to hurt the MIL franchise in the long run given the state of their team so there is no problem with the trade for me.

Plus I've known cloud on this site for years and he is in here for the long run, it's not like this is a new GM making his first trade in this league with the possibility of leaving next week

To me not too bad a deal as some others might think. I also like Clarkson and wouldn't mind paying a 1st (I just don't have 1). Clarkson putting up better production than any FA in my opinion and could get traded .

Plus 2 good GMs and each happy with deal so  easy :iatp:
