Franchise NHL / Re: 2020 FNHL Entry Draft NOV 17th
« on: October 16, 2020, 12:44:49 AM »
FNHL Entry Draft re-scheduled to Tuesday November 17, 2020. :judge:
Spreading out the fun and allowing teams to assess the talent and the NHL team that drafted them.
Question, are all FNHL owners now in North America? If so, should we consider pausing the clock in the middle of the night for 4-6 hours?? We'd also have to see how many owners are based on the West Coast to help understand timing for the overnight draft clock pause.

I didn't even realize Johnny had left. LOL
What? Johnny's gone? Kidding.

Yeah, I miss having Johnny and Halo around. The new owners who took their spots are active and engaged so I can't complain.:thumbsup:

Franchise NHL / Re: FNHL VOTE: 2021-22 CAP 5% DECREASE?
« on: October 09, 2020, 10:45:17 AM »
The results above are final at closing of our vote Oct 3, 2020.
It was a landslide for the YES side who numbered nearly 3 times more votes than the NO's.

Ultimately, this should help FNHL level the playing field longterm.
Well just take a look at this year's FNHL FA crop! It's worse than last year so this is a great call by Mordecai to table this rollback recommendation.:thumbsup: Its going to be good for FNHL.

But I'm going to guess next yr's FA period in FNHL will look like this year's NHL free agency with plenty of big names hitting the market.

:thumbsup::iatp: wow. Pigs really did ship the farm to Zilla's Kings. Raddysh, Boqvist, Slepets and even Kurashev are going to be in the NHL in some capacity and that 4th overall will be a can't miss player. Have to admit the deal looked junky until I read up on the prospects.

St Louis Blues announce a trade with the Nashville Predators to add a future superstar who has already shown he's only going to get better and fast as well as a 3rd pairing winger. Thanks to the Nashville owner for working with us on this negotiation.

:STL-NHL: D - Timothy Liljegren (2017: 1/17 - 11 Games)
       Round 3 - 2020 (pick no.73)
       Round 4 - 2020 (pick no.104)
for
:NAS: Robert Thomas, $2.0m (2019-2020-EL… 3.2m (2020-2023)
       LW - Michael Bunting (SDP 2018: 2014 4/117 - 5 Games)
:thumbsup::iatp: Thomas is a proven commodity relative to Liljegren with a Stanley Cup ring to boot. Both players were drafted the same year and while Liljegren went 3 spots earlier, he hasn't convinced Leafs brass he deserves a fulltime spot in the NHL, at least not yet. The picks balance this deal for us. Thanks and GL King!

Franchise NHL / FNHL History - Stories
« on: September 24, 2020, 01:37:55 PM »
Pigsrule invited some of us over from a CBS Hockey pool we started with a bunch of CBS board veterans. We were looking for something more challenging than the usual H2H for money. He found this league and said it was different.

Early on, FNHL was run like others, fly by night commissioners who left after 10mths there was Joeshmoe who set it up then handed it off to someone who was bipolar and was good but then went off the rails badly and got banned for being a jerk, owners abandoning teams, we're talking 2/3 of the league.

Then PR took over year 2 and laid down the law. That drove a bunch of not too serious owners to join the free leagues. But perhaps the best move Pigsrule made was when he recruited PPG from out of retirement as I understand. HAHAHA Told old PPG to put on some pants and get to work. PPG's been the back bone of FNHL ever since IMO. Pigsrule is the brains. PPG's the glue that holds everything together and makes it run like clock work.:thumbsup::win:

Franchise NHL / Re: 2020-21 Cap Compliance
« on: September 24, 2020, 01:28:20 PM »
The way I understand how this league is run, there's no babying but only friendly nudges. Dates are firm unless there's a pandemic. And everyone's got to take care of their own business because it's a fantasy business to be run because there's money on the line. If that's right, that's what I signed up for. Let's go! :win::win::win:
:thumbsup::iatp: You're in the right place King!:win:

  • Brent: And that's why I haven't traded Carr yet.  Someone doesn't have a QB or thinks they'll get one in FA/draft and might be left wanting.

  • Daddy: @Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.
  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...

  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't have Holiday.  Just used him as an example since he was the #1 prospect

  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
    Today at 12:59:21 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).
