Everyone is making moves it seems, and Detroit had to do something.

Tampa gets a Vancouver backup goalie, a good young prospect goalie, and a couple good Vegas forwards, plus you save close to $3m in cap space. Detroit get a former starter, current NJ backup goalie who can hopefully give me a few decent starts before the end of the season and a 1st round pick upgrade.

Although I approve, I must say Tampa Bay giving away what could potentially be the 1st overall draft pick is rather puzzling but given Cory Schneider's year+ of health issues and his sizeable contract, this trade can be explained.

However, Schneider is eligible for a huge pay cut in August so Detroit will be able to extend him for half the current cap value.
