Title: VOIDED + VETOED (MTL GM removed) - TRADE Montreal Colorado
Post by: mike0542 on August 26, 2014, 12:15:09 AM
Colorado trades
Brett Bulmer, $0.2m (2014-2016)
Christian Thomas, $0.2m (2014-2016)
C - Yan Pavel Laplante (2013: 3/62 - 0 Games)
LW - Mario Lucia (2011: 2/60 - 0 Games)
LW - Tyler Bertuzzi (2013: 2/58 - 0 Games)

Montreal trades
Andrej Meszaros, $0.3m (2013-2015)
Derek MacKenzie, $0.2m (2013-2015)

Montreal accepts. Getting some good young players/prospects in exchange for 2 serviceable players on cheap contracts

Clearing the deck and landing a couple of nice older pieces. Thomas is a quality prospect and both he and Bulmer will get some time this year.

Thanks Mike!

:iatp: MTL is getting younger. Seems to be the trend with some new owners, not all.
Win to COL for getting players to win now.

Although I don't believe this trade is detrimental to Montreal it does not really help the Canadiens  to compete in an already difficult Atlantic Division. The players coming from the Avalanche can be found fairly easily via free agent and the prospects are not considered Bluechip by any means. Be that as it may, the young players headed to Montreal hold potential which is worth more to some than others. Of course this could be a small part of a multifaceted plan by Montreal and their new GM to dominate for years to come.

VETO
Theres a pattern here with montreal unloading Scoring for potential and mot even hard to find potential. This deal and the other with the Ducks really starts stripping the valuable pieces from the habs. Makes me want to cough chunks defend a montreal canadiens team anywhere but this deal hurts one team.

It is clear to me that Mike is a competent GM and that he is not trying to destroy the franchise. For the sake of expediency we are using the veto as an opportunity to enrich the deal.

Further to what is already on the table, Colorado sends Joel Ward, $2.0m (2014-2017) in return for Montreal's 2nd Round Pick. This makes our trade look like this:

Joel Ward, $2.0m (2014-2017)
Brett Bulmer, $0.2m (2014-2016)
Christian Thomas, $0.2m (2014-2016)
C - Yan Pavel Laplante (2013: 3/62 - 0 Games)
LW - Mario Lucia (2011: 2/60 - 0 Games)
LW - Tyler Bertuzzi (2013: 2/58 - 0 Games)

For

Andrej Meszaros, $0.3m (2013-2015)
Derek MacKenzie, $0.2m (2013-2015)
2nd Round - 2014

I reiterate that Thomas is a highly rated offensive prospect that has seen a couple of NHL games and is close to ready. Bulmer is more of a 3rd liner but he should see full-time duty. Ward of course put up good numbers last season and is a piece that Montreal could really use.

This is a fair and reasonable deal so I am calling on JD to retract the Veto.

Cheers again Mike!

Montreal agrees! Think this evens up the deal.

Guys as far as i know it takes 3vetos to end the life of a deal.

The deal was fine. I'm just asking that you acknowledge Montreal is indeed working to be competitive.

This TC member regrets to inform the parties that I have revised my vote and submit a VETO given the direction of the Montreal franchise and do not agree this trade helps Montreal in any significant way other than to accelerate the exodus of valuable proven players.

This deal and the other with :ANA: is wrecking Montreal. I don't see how :MON-NHL: will contend in the toughest division in FNHL without a roster stacked with fulltime NHLers.

Gents, with the removal of the GM from the league this trade it is now void. :judge:
