Title: Can we vote on the winner take all format?
Post by: Daddy on October 18, 2016, 12:56:53 AM
FNHL

Going on my 3rd year in this league can I suggest a possible tweak as we move forward?

Winner take all in a redraft or 1 year league is fair for all and can be exciting. Am I the only person who thinks it's a tough ask to have someone purchase an $85 team (or the like) and they have no chance to win any of it back?

Teams that are inherited or purchased in keeper leagues this deep usually were not vacated as championship contenders. It can take years to turn a franchise around, and the guys who abandoned the teams/league are usually not coming back. They usually are responsible for the deals that seperated the contenders in the first place.

The point is...winner take all works when the playing field is level. Throw a guy $15 or so for putting his team in the playoffs. The eventual champ should get the biggest payout but the only payout? That's a tough sell imo.

Can we at least vote on the topic as a league?

I have been in several leagues where there are smaller prizes but the fee was much higher in the $35 to $75 range annually.

It's $10 for returning teams in FNHL and that doesn't add up to much to split up into smaller prizes. That's been the reasoning here.

That what it boils down to, team fees. Want more prizes. Then expect an real increase.

90% of owners here pay the returning fee of 10 bucks and you would want to win back 15$ for making the playoffs? That easily leads to not enough cash to go around or a Crapty prize for the winner.

There's no gun to the head of anyone looking to buy a team. They have a choice man. There are free leagues that pop up then disappear 1/2 thru the season LOL

Maybe top 4 but not all 16 teams that make the playoffs unless you want to pay 50$ we can toss prizes around.
