Interpretation of rules
« on: May 21, 2019, 03:03:40 PM »
:agent: In Wildcard Baseball 2 as I interpret the rules on releasing players: Only (P-n/a) or minimum $0.3m salary players are exempt from cap hit. The fact that a player has entered the 3-yr threshold and have changed from (P-n/a) to (P-2021) those players if dropped will be charged a cap hit:
3-yr player threshold (P-2021 = $0.5m cap hit
2-yr player threshold (P-2020) = $0.4m cap hit
1-yr player threshold (P-2019) = No cap hit
Also, it must be understood that a player that has reached the 3-yr threshold and have had their signature changed from (P-n/a) to (P-2021) those players are ineligible to be placed on taxi squad even so they may actually be playing in the minors as major leagues has a tendency on moving players up and down to Triple A. Unfortunately, Wildcard Baseball 2 will not have that luxury as this is a more simple dynasty salary league, less complications for the commissioner and all GM.

The off-season does include much updating.

I was under the impression (before the thread was altered) that any player making less than $1.0m per year was also a free drop, along with any Prospect Contract players.

I see that this rule was changed though...

In other leagues on site that may be the case, it was not listed under WCB 2 rules. All I did was add a final sentence to written rules on releasing players.

ALSO, in 2019 there are no penalty as several GM do have players in the 3-yr threshold on taxi squad. This will be enforced in off season heading into 2020 so everyone understands.

Updated releasing player rule for league. There are no buyouts on contracts in WCB2.

As everyone can see, I am doing all the work to get the hang of this so called more simple dynasty salary contract league. I have updated all team Spread Sheets concerning bonuses and cap hits. There are 4 categories listed:
Signing Bonus ..... bonus $$ on acquiring (P-n/a) players.
Cash Exchange ..... Any GM paying $$ on traded player.
Cash Bonus ..... Received $$ on acquired traded player.
Released Under Contract ..... Cap Hit on dropped players (no buyouts in WCB2).

@ Cliff:

Are you serious when you stated, that starting next year:

1) Teams will only be allowed to make a certain number of trades

2) Teams will only be allowed to sign a certain number of free agents

Replying to the Tor/Tam Trade thread:

I think it’s a huge mistake to say you’re only going to allow so many trades per team and so many acquisitions per team

That’s the fun of fantasy sports here on this site

If people want a simple league, go join on Yahoo and ESPN. The people that come to this site are looking for a bit more than that and are quite a bit more serious.

If we’re putting restrictions on roster moves, I don’t see the league lasting long term as people will get bored. All you’d be doing is setting your lineups - same as a Yahoo. Except at least Yahoo has the 1-click function where you can play all your starters playing that day. Fantrax is still figuring that out.

I agree with West Coast. A move or trade limit cannot happen.

I make a fair amount of trades, honestly I think I have maybe 4 or 5 people on my roster, that were on my roster when I took over in the winter. I made all of those trades and despite my record, I have a team that will be in contention next year. It just, plain and simple wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable if I wasn’t able to do that.

:judge: Thanks for the feedback guys....after checking with fantrax setup, the fact that the commissioner makes all the moves and trades approved at fantrax, there is no way of setting a limit on moves and trades. This was only really a suggestion on my part, and the fact that I am doing all the work to get the feel for the league, I know that in 2020 I will seek help especially for the fantrax part.

Also, on the part of WON FA, I have not been replying on situation as if roster is full, over salary level, etc. For future WON FA, I must reply on the situation so the winning GM can make added moves within 48 hours. Sorry, for past errors on my part. (...still getting the feel for this league).

  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.

  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did

  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
