Title: 2018 Team Ownership Changes
Post by: RSmetana on October 03, 2017, 06:30:34 PM
Unfortunately, my work schedule has increased to a point that I cannot give most of my leagues the attention they deserve.

Sorry to be a one and done owner, but the Indians will not be returning.

Paul S.  Great to hear!  The team needs a steady hand and we are very happy to have you back.  At a HS football game right now, with spotty WiFi, but I’ll get you back on Fantrax before the night is over.

Title: The Time has come for New Leadership
Post by: Flash on November 25, 2017, 11:51:07 AM
As many of you know, the lifeblood of any fantasy league, regardless of sport, is active participation.  With that, we all know that real-life events are always a variable, so we all go through periods where we simply have to let things evolve on autopilot.

With that, however, is an understanding that our league cannot sustain itself if inactivity turns into neglect.  As league moderators, Rick and I have a responsibility to try and do things for the good of the league, which means that there are times when we have to intervene and ask if a given situation is in the league’s best interest.  Such is the case with the :ATL: and the :KC:.

Both of the GMs for these teams are longtime members, but both of their teams have slid into mediocrity because of their inactivity.  We have been trying to reach them off and on during the season, with an even greater intensity during our FYPD, with a variety of joint and separate PMs and e-mails, but there has been no response.  Given their history with FGM, we have delayed taking action in hopes they would come around.  Alas, our efforts have been fruitless, and with heavy hearts, we have decided to secure replacements for both teams.

We are awaiting a decision by one of our applicants and another has accepted our invitation to re-join FGM.  We hope all of you understand that these decisions are not easy, but a necessary step to insure the continued solvency of our league, Franchise GM.

Will Colby be able to dedicate time to Pittsburgh?

I have considered this question for a few seasons and it is a conundrum of a sorts.  I think you knew the answer before you posted, but the question has been raised, so let me offer this.

The short answer is no, probably not, but it is not that simple.  It is not simple because this is Colby’s league.  He founded it in 2009 as a part of the ProFSL community.  It is ProFSL’s original baseball league and Colby established the parameters for FGM to sustain itself as a bonafide fantasy league.  So although his participation is sporadic at best, he is a permanent fixture in this league.

I communicate with him through other channels, and yes, he knows his participation leaves something to be desired.  He has often expressed the desire to be more active, but alas, we see that he isn’t.  His work schedule keeps him very busy, but he remains interested in the activities of FGM.  FGM is his baby, which is why he continues to pay the yearly Fantrax fees.  He has given me a lot of insights regarding league activity and overall direction, and has relied heavily on others to keep ProFSL together as a fantasy community.  He was instrumental in my membership in the league and gave me the impetus to become the co-commissioner of FGM.

Would I like him to be active? Of course, that goes without saying, but I am never going to initiate any action to remove him as a GM.  This may not be what you, or others want to hear, but it’s the bare bones explanation as to how I see his continued membership in the league.

I understand and agree with your points. It’s just a shame the franchise is in such poor shape. Even a few minutes spent every week would be a help.

I understand my activity in my original league has been suspect at best. I aim to be more active. I've been tanking my team the past 2-3 years much like the Astros successfully did and like Jeter wants his Marlins to do. I have tons of open payroll and a lot of young prospects, so looking to spend wisely on FA this year!

The search was short, but we are pleased to announce that Matt J. (Emjay613) is going to take over for Ginstwin as the GM of the Yankees.  Matt was a member of kidd5jersey's Wonderboy league and comes to us with a wide variety of fantasy play experience.  We believe he will be a definite asset to FGM and welcome him as our newest member.

Welcome! :toth:

Title: Lancelot comes to the Big Apple
Post by: Flash on February 22, 2018, 01:51:07 PM
GMs of Franchise GM,

As most of you recall, last season we had to place a team in Receivership because general neglect.  That team has since made a bit of a recovery now that a dedicated GM has taken over the reins of the team and, as we had hoped, the team will once again become competitive.

At present, we are again faced with a similar dilemma in regards to the New York Mets.  During the 2017 campaign, the Mets were abandoned and a new GM was instilled at the tail end of the season.  That new GM proceeded to trade away a variety of assets and created a large amount of cap that we all believed was going to be used to restock the team for the upcoming season.  Alas, that has not happened as the present GM has completely whiffed on Free Agency thus far and has not added a single player to the Mets roster.  That $85.0m cap has essentially gone for naught as the team has only 24 players on it's MLB roster, some who will probably never even see the major leagues.  His lack involvement in FGM has reached a point where something must be done for the good of the league.  So after several failed attempts to communicate, we have decided to seek a replacement.  Such a decision does not occur without some reservations, but as moderators, we believe we must always strive to have active participation as a prerequisite to continued FGM membership.

Fortunately for us, another former member of Wonderboy has accepted our invitation to take over the Mets—with a full understanding that the team is a complete rebuild.

Please welcome a new member to Franchise GM, Lance (lancealot2407), as the new GM of the New York Mets.

Welcome! :toth:

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I have heard many good things about this league and the managers who make it up. The Mets currently resemble that of a gutted fish. But there is nowhere to go from here but up. Thanks again for allowing me to run my favorite mlb team.
Title: Astros under new management
Post by: Flash on July 08, 2018, 01:29:37 PM
After a couple of seasons, Corey W. (poignantcashew) decided that rebuilding the Astros was an enormous task, and he felt it was time to step aside.  Corey has found a place more to his liking in another ProFSL league and we thank him for his time in FGM.

With that, we are fortunate to have an opportunity to have a formidable replacement in Brent H. (Brent).  Brent is a former FGM GM, and ProFSL veteran, who has returned from a well-deserved vacation and is now ready to jump back in the fray.  Brent has graciously agreed sign on as the new GM of the Houston Astros and we’re glad to have him back.

Please join me as we wish Brent a hardy welcome back to FGM!  :toth:
