Rule Change Proposal - Increase the minimum salary

MLB made several rules changes during the CBA in 2022.  MLB made several rules changes during the CBA in 2022.  I propose we include this rule change:

Minimum salary rises from 500k in 2021 to 700k in 2022, 800k in 2026

by adjusting the minimum salary to $1m for the 2024 season.

We can't just double the minimum salary with what amounts to less than 1 year notice.  While I may be in the minority, I've made many of my moves and set up my roster based on the salary format.  So doubling the minimum salary would just cost me 6.5M in 2024 when I've already budgeted very tightly based on what our salary format is. 

Just quickly looking at a few teams it would cost :ARI: 13M in 2024, 12M, 15M, 11M, I don't think it's fair to anyone to do that.

I agree with Ryan.  It should not be raised until MLB raises it to $1m.

I agree with updating the salary for prospect extensions and the minimum salary.  I will post this same message on both threads as my logic is the same for both.

Like many others, I've built my strategy around keeping as many young (cheap) players on my roster as possible.  But I also realize that for this league to remain successful, there has to be more parity, and that comes with stronger FA pools, where GM's can make significant impacts to their rosters in one off season.  The only way to create those stronger FA pools, is to make budgets come into play more frequently.  Honestly, I don't think I have had to make enough tough decisions with the roster I have...it's been relatively easy to keep my team intact.

Even though these changes would create some difficult decisions for me, I think it's in the best interests of the league to do so.  From a timing standpoint, I think the 2023 - 2024 offseason would be the most appropriate to implement.

No.  This is another change that will benefit big cap/big market teams and hurt small cap/small market teams.

No, I'd be more open to this, the raising of prospect extensions and the league minimum salary if there were changes made that helped the smaller market teams.
