FA - EDR Ruling

What was the outcome of the FA singed players being elgible for the EDR Roster?  Just curious, I am fine either way, but it lets me know how to operate in FA.

You cannot transfer a player from your 40-man roster to the EDR.

Can you assign a prospect acquired via FA *directly* to your EDR and bypass the 40 man roster?

Negative. EDR is only for players from your original roster and original team, and can be used for players taken by you in the entry draft. Anyone signed in FA regardless of prospect status and original MLB team, cannot be put on the EDR, and must be put on your 40 man roster. Keep this in mind if someone feels like going Tout crazy.

I just found this in the EDR rules
# Only players drafted by the current team are eligible for the EDR, players acquired via trade or free agency are not unless that player 1) has never been on a Franchise GM roster before AND 2) was drafted in real life by that franchise.
# Players that have never played an MLB game are eligible for the EDR.  As soon as a player on the EDR has one MLB game played, they must immediately be moved to the 40-man roster or released.  If the player is moved to the 40-man roster, they are subject to standard prospect contract rules.  Players on the EDR may be traded, but the acquiring team must place them on the 40-man roster

This means that a player who meets this requirements that is signed in FA is eligible to the EDR right?

I am sorry to tell you that the RC's official ruling on the EDR is that is only for drafted players.  However, the caveat in the rules that was created by the RC makes a loop hole.  This is something that the RC has discussed, and I think by the current definition, Ben and I (the big supporters of the original idea for the EDR) will have to budge a bit.  As of now, it appears that you can transfer a player to the EDR if they meet such requirements, but it isn't set in stone.  The RC will come to an agreement in the next week on this issue.
