Between the beauty of the 2nd apron and James Harden being up for grabs in free agency, I don't know what's stopping you from joining ;)

League Openings / Free CBA-simulating NBA fantasy game

Hello,
the idea behind NBA Front Office is to mimic the NBA as much as possible. All rules of the CBA apply unless specified otherwise. Teams using 8 players in their rotation score in a H2H points-based weekly format, with a shortened Regular Season and early Play-in Tournament and Playoffs to eliminate real-life tanking/resting effects. Apart from standard Fantrax settings there is some help for defenders: rewarding +/- and minutes, penalizing missed shots. We kicked off in 2012, with the exact real-life situation. The rest is history. Available teams entering 2023 draft & free agency: Warriors, Clippers, Suns, Raptors, Jazz (all contenders) and Bulls (Embiid & cap space).

Enjoy the Playoffs,
Daniel

Looking for more ProFSL fantasy leagues?

The idea behind NBA Front Office is to mimic the job of a real-life GM as much as possible. All rules of the CBA apply unless specified otherwise. In free agency, you negotiate with the player's actual agent via email until an agreement is reached - again mimicking real life.

That makes it the most complex fantasy league - you'll need to understand terms like July Moratorium, Qualifying Offer, or Repeater Tax.

(Which doesn't mean you must be a CBA expert from day 1. Au contraire: I created this league over 7 years ago, and I still learn something new every day. Plus if you aren't quite sure when to renounce your TPE or how to comply with the Stepien rule, you can choose to start as an Assistant GM for a while!)

At the same time, that makes it the simplest fantasy league - you don't need to memorize any imaginary salary caps or extension rules, because we replicate exactly what is covered by the media every day. You don't need to optimize your team composition for any specific scoring format, because everything we do has the single goal of making the league 100% realistic and parallel to the real-life NBA. Need proof? Look how short the rules are: http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=52523.0

We've had loads of fun since 2012, but need some fresh blood - preferably before the free agency begins. And oh, it's free!

Name: Justin

About that: we've just confirmed that in another ProFSL league, Justin created 5 fake accounts to cheat everybody else. He admitted it when caught red-handed. Is he the kind of person you want to play with?

  • Daddy: Honestly idk why the NBA doesn't do it that way for expanding. Two teams at a time. Expansion draft to amateur draft. I think the idea is fresh and its execution will be pretty dope. ;)

  • jimw: I think the NBA goes one team at a time to give the one team a better talent pool in the expansion draft and also to keep the teams from complaining about losing more players

  • Daddy: I mean they only losing one guy anyway tho. We expose 10 players, protect 5 players, each team, all 30 will lose one player.
  • Daddy: The expansion teams will then both have 15 players heading into the amateur draft with picks #1 & #2.
  • Daddy: Each other team will still have 14 players and one first round pick.

  • Daddy: They need to hire me is what they need to do
  • Daddy: Yeah you lose a guy to the expansion draft. Likely your 6th man. Then the very next day you draft his replacement and keep it moving.

  • jimw: I think in the Bobcat expansion each team could protect 8 players. And I think the bobcats has to take at least 14 so half the league didn't even lose a player.

  • Daddy: Sometimes that takes a couple days, sometimes weeks, sometimes months. The only requirement of being a LIVE GM is effort & participation. Not necessarily trading but the operations of your franchise.
