When I came in last year my team was 1-5 but had lots of pieces to move to make my team competitive. I currently only have one player on my roster that was there when I started the league, in Josh Harding (just traded Latendresse). I went on a tare after my trading and ended up 16-7 and won the league. I don't know but that could be considered a quick re-build. I moved basically all my minor league players for players would would be making impacts right now. Sometimes going trade crazy is the only way to turn around your team.

Edmonton was terrible when I took them over this past offseason, but one big trade really turned things around.

I traded Taylor Hall and Khabibulin for Scott Hartnell, Sergei Bobrovsky, Andrej Meszaros & a  1st rd. draft pick (which was later packaged with my other first to move up and take Sean Couturier)

Last year Edmonton won 9 games all season, and so far I already have 4 wins and am within inches of taking down the 7-1 Phoenix Coyotes this week. While I'm not done rebuilding in any sense, I think doing your homework and understanding each player's situation when you trade for them can make sense.

Everyone called me crazy when I traded Taylor Hall away, but I knew that he'd be on the top line every night against each team's top D-Men, and I knew Khabibulin only has a few years left in him... by the time I'd be "Re-Built," he'd retire.

I picked up Bobrovsky, who will be a starter in this league within the next 2 seasons, Mezsaros who QB's the PP when Pronger is injure (which is a lot cause he's old as the sun), Hartnell is a consistent 20-25 goal scorer, and I was able to add Sean Couturier, one of the few 18 year olds in the league.

So, you might have to make an unpopular trade, but I think doing your homework and understanding the situation each player will be in besides just looking at a stat line can pay huge dividends. Of course, this assumes you have a player worth trading...

I'm still burning over that Hall trade.  I still can't believe it was vetoed.  My team is garbage now.

I still remember how stupid everyone thought I was and we were even accused of trying to cheat.

Taylor Hall will still be great player in this league for years to come, so it wasn't like a Herschel Walker-esque trade or anything.

I'm revising my re-building forecast from 1 year to 6 months. After 5 trades in the past 2-3 weeks, I like the way my team is taking shape and the wait might not be as long.

Well will be more like 8-10 months as if it was 6 months the next season won't even be started yet. You have a good looking minor league but I think you'll down fall will be goaltending unless you can get a decent one in free agency.

I play in money leagues usually with 14 to 18 teams (keeper) and guys usually take about 2 seasons to overhaul their roster. Guys in the cellar need to make a lot of deals and waiver wire pick ups to rotate the old under performing guys out of their line-up. 2 years is what's expected IMHO.

I require from my teams, proper levels of anger, belligerence and some good ol' fashion piss 'n' vinegar.

If you end up joining this league, let's talk. You might be surprised how quickly things move along with willing trade partners.

Well DickieDunn, I'm the new owner of the Sharks and would like to talk to you about trading some players.
Everyone else is also welcome to give us a call to talk trade.

So far from what I have seen the trades in this league seem fair consistently. I'm looking forward to working on deals with all of you.

Thanks!

how am I suppose to know who is available to pick up????
I look on fantrax and stamkos, malkin, kessel all show up among about every other player in the NHL.
I understand that there is only western conference teams, but jamie benn is there and there is a dallas owner who doesnt have him...... really confusing.

"Get off my lawn" types wanting to run leagues that were identical to the others. If you want 100 of the same old guys never chatting and no guests on the site. We had how many years of that?
