Buckets of Dimes: Completed Trades / Lakers/Wizards trade

Lakers receive:

Evan Fournier $6.0m (2019)

Wizards receive:

Ricky Rubio $6.0m (2022)

Lakers confirm. It looks like my other trade is fixing to go through, and when it does I will have 5 point guards on roster (!) That's an issue when 3 of them (Rubio, Schroder, Conley) have PG exclusive designation. This trade sends one of the PG only players for a solid contributor with SF designation in Fournier. I honestly like Rubio's production and contract, but the position dilemma is too much to ignore this year. Fournier's contract is expiring after this season, and their contracts are equal in apy value, so I see this as a movie that addresses a current issue and doesn't necessarily hurt me going forward.

If/when the trade goes through, I will have a glut at PG (oh how the turntables). Two of those PGs will be on expiring contracts, but I'd still like to address the positional surplus this season before playoffs if possible. As such, I'm fielding offers on

Ricky Rubio $6.0m (2022)
Mike Conley $5.2m (2019)

Looking for SF/PF/C contributors this season, but will consider all offers.

Lakers receive:

Spencer Dinwiddie $1.5m (2019)
Terry Rozier $7.5m (2022- $2.0m paid in 2019)

Spurs receive:

Tyler Herro: $1.9m (2022)
Kyle Kuzma: $2.4m (2020)

Lakers confirm. Originally I was content to buy time til next year, but my pride has gotten to me. In an effort to make a run this season, I'm giving up some youth to acquire some solid contributors in Dinwiddie and Rozier. Sad that Dinwiddie is expiring, but hopefully his contributions this season will make up for that. Thanks to Spurs for the easy negotiation!

Lakers confirm.

I'm trying to be conservative with my future cap in preparation for my contention window starting next season. Porter jr was a contract I used to be comfortable with, but his injuries have since turned me off. I'm also not a fan of this coming draft class at all, so the pick swap doesn't feel like much of a hit to me. I'm not certain what Conley will offer me, but overall this is a move for seasons coming rather than this one. Thanks for being the only team interested in my players Vik!   :cheesy:

  • Daddy: Honestly idk why the NBA doesn't do it that way for expanding. Two teams at a time. Expansion draft to amateur draft. I think the idea is fresh and its execution will be pretty dope. ;)

  • jimw: I think the NBA goes one team at a time to give the one team a better talent pool in the expansion draft and also to keep the teams from complaining about losing more players

  • Daddy: I mean they only losing one guy anyway tho. We expose 10 players, protect 5 players, each team, all 30 will lose one player.
  • Daddy: The expansion teams will then both have 15 players heading into the amateur draft with picks #1 & #2.
  • Daddy: Each other team will still have 14 players and one first round pick.

  • Daddy: They need to hire me is what they need to do
  • Daddy: Yeah you lose a guy to the expansion draft. Likely your 6th man. Then the very next day you draft his replacement and keep it moving.

  • jimw: I think in the Bobcat expansion each team could protect 8 players. And I think the bobcats has to take at least 14 so half the league didn't even lose a player.
