This was Tkachev's 1st yr of draft eligibility and he went undrafted probably because he's 5'9"... there is no rule forcing FNHL teams to only select players drafted by an NHL team. The thinking likely was that its highly unlikely an FNHL team would be better at scounting than an NHL team's entire scouting department and personnel execs so chances are FNHL teams would only target NHL drafted players.

In this case, good job by the Avs digging up Vladimir... he's a valid FNHL draft pick.

Alright, let get a ruling on that from PR.
This is what the rules state:

You might have a point. A loophole if you will. 
I think we will still let PR have the final say but the rules do not explicitly forbid drafting of players that are draft eligible but not drafted their 1st year of draft eligibility.

A great find! A Russian that decided to give North America a try. It is more the exception than the rule these days which makes SlackJack's selection even more impressive.

he is a good player,,, played for the Moncton Wildcats (where I live) was an offensive machine.  Actually he lived with some of my relatives since they were his billets.  I have a really funny story about him but I cant share it here... this is the internet and all.
