FNHL Free Agency: Weak 2019 FA Class!
« on: August 11, 2019, 02:36:28 AM »
Having rolled over 3/4 of the league, I can say this year's Free Agent pool will be like an intercity kiddy splash park in Buffalo, dry as hell.

The best FAs will be Josh Anderson, Lucic, Jon Merrill and if you go for the stretch, Scott Darling.  :o

A lot of teams have money to spend. This supports the extension raise. It could potentially be even drier when we throw in another team to the mold in 20-21.

I would like to see a rule on extensions that you can’t extend a player at less money than they are currently under contract for regardless of performance. If the player is no longer worth that contract let the fa market determine what he’s worth. Just a thought.

Lower $$ extensions happen in real life.
With the absence of real agents to negotiate up and GMs to negotiate downward, what we have is a good working platform for now.

I think someone on this site tried to create a league like that but who want to sit on the sidelines only as an agent? Not me. But then again I'm to clown who's here doing the administrative assistant's job. LOL

:puke: ummmmmm..........that’s not realistic. Take the NHL Blackhawks. D Brent Seabrook is at 7.5 million per. If his contract were up do you think the Hawks would resign him at that same value? No plus he would be untradeable. Why should a FNHL owner be punished for the players lack of production? If you manage your team the right way money rarely gets in the way unless you hit on all your draft picks and overpay in FA. I put a lot of time in my teams, I wouldn’t be interested in wasting that time. Sounds like sour milk to me just sayin.  :toast:

You'd need a committee of owners vetting that extensions decreases like actual GMs negotiating downward for non-producing or aging/ past their prime stars.

I require from my teams, proper levels of anger, belligerence and some good ol' fashion piss 'n' vinegar.

No not sour milk at all. Carolina is probably the biggest offender of extending guys down that had an injury or didn’t produce one year. I was just looking at it from the perspective of what would make it harder to keep teams together and allow for more players to hit FA.

Like ppg said it’s a good platform. I was just offering up a suggestion.

Suggestions are always good for the sake of improving the league and I think that's the intent of Halo's post.

But yeah, that FA pool is on the shallow end.
