I think the rules around Type A and B free agents. Lost draft picks only happen when a player turns down qualifying offers. If we keep these rules are we allowed to offer qualifying offers to players based off real values used in MLB?

I also think compensation for RPs is way too high. I think that needs to be looked at.

Chris you have to look at the intent of compensation in the MLB. It is to increase competetive balance. Mlb has no salary cap so the natural market says the best talent will be purchased by the biggest markets. Depleting the smaller market teams.

In order to keep the MLB competetive the league implemented compensation distributing the ability to choose young talent for that loss.

We dont have qa's but we have extensions that no player can decline. In irder to keep compensation as a principle it has to be based on extended or not ; as again, players dont choose contracts here.

Agreed 100 percent that RP compensation should be looked at.

If you don't re-sign a FA, by our definition you have not made a qualifying offer.  Our salary rules whereby we have minimum years would be rendered meaningless if we allowed teams to re-sign FA's to qualifying offers of 1 year similar to the MLB system.

I agree that RP compensation is way too high.

ok  say  the angels decide trout  is way to exspensive and dont want to pay him 50m  a year to keep  him  and would rather spend  that  money on 5 or 6 other free agents and say  the yankees  go hog wild  and  pay him that money in real baseball the  yankees  would loose  draft  picks  and they would  go to the angels to help them  be competive. To me i think that all the  owners  want it  to be as real or nearly  like the way  the real  mlb teams  run there  teams.

I'm in the RP comp being too high boat. It basically makes any Type A/B RP un-signable for a year. I stupidly forgot to look at the Type A/B thread when I picked up Mark Melancon...I wondered why no one bid on him until I lost my 1st rounder lol.

I'd like to see trades get looked at by the RC. Once a trade is agreed upon a timer should start for the TC to act. Approve or veto but it should not just hang out there in limbo. If not vetoed then it should be processed whether or not it receives all the required approvals once a specified period of time has elapsed IMO.

I think we need to do away with the EDR and make it a fluid minor league system. Meaning we can sign guys and place them in the minors while not taking up space and cap on our 40 man rosters.

I don't agree that if u have to keep minors on your team that havent even been called up. That's crazy. I have to keep 3 minors in reed rp,  marlette c  both I single a. I think we should expand the minors also no one will be able to draft any year to year unless they drop  good minors to make room for new minors

I also like this idea. Let's you take a shot on some longer term foreign prospects without losing roster spots for years. And can promote guys to majors while re-filling EDR and keeping a full minor league roster. Especially helpful for low cap teams that need as many PC, low wage guys as possible.

I still want to get compensation for SP's and RP's looked at this offseason.  I think they are way out of whack.  I'd like to get a RC thread open to discuss compensation.  Thanks!
Duly noted Chris. Let's get thru FA and getting the schedule set and maybe we can look into it.
