I think the league has enough wrinkles without adding more to it. 

Extensions are already low in comparison to what players sell for in FA. 

third reason ,  i hate the Montreal NHL team and really dont like many of their players.

Agree here. Don't fancy the hometown discount, I dispise Minnesota irl same thing. If anything hometown -  place of birth would be more exciting but requires a hell of a job. I like it now being randomized with players

If you drafted the player the hometown discount can be used.
Think about it.
This makes draft picks more valuable. BOOM! Mind blown!

Play for the same team in the NHL and FNHL is a because that plays up the concept of Franchise player and Hometown Discount.

This is a very biased rule, that is why some may not like it.

Capitals love the idea, with 2 studs who play for the caps.
Oilers hate it and couldn't be more against it!

Seems like a great rule for a new league, not so sure about a league in year 5!

I would probably agree, but only with the 3 conditions as originally stated. Edmonton will just move on like it doesn't even exist

I'll always opt for the simplest approach so I'd lean towards nominating/branding at the time the player is drafted. It'd be a gamble and there is nothing wrong with that. Certainly this keeps us from having to track every single draftee moving forward.

As far as tracking the original contract, I don't think it is necessary. If I trade Max Domi away and he is on a favourable contract then my trade partner gets the savings for the remainder of the contract. Just delete the Avs icon and move him along.

I don't think we'd be facing a ton of 'sign and trade' scenarios especially if we had to nominate from the time they are drafted, as in most cases it will take several years for a prospect to start making an impact. Even if it does drive a few larger contracts down the over-all effect will still be less than if we are able to nominate 2 HTD's per year.

Tracking the cap value of the original contract before the HTD means once the player is traded they return to their original contract.

WHY? Because we can't put restrictions on movement whereas in the real league, the player getting or giving a HTD would also have a NO TRADE or NO MOVEMENT clause to limit/prevent being traded. We can't do that in FNHL but can remove the discount/advantage once the player leaves their home team!

This stipulation ties your fantasy team to the real life draft ability of your namesake. This makes for an uneven playing field.....might be cute in a free league but it's not fair for this one.

Every team should have 1 or two guys that play for the same NHL team.
BUT don't forget there's the other possible option, the player was drafted by your FNHL and you've groomed them for yrs but instead of releasing or trading them when they qualify for a big raise you give them a HTD to keep them. FNHL Draftees by the same team can qualify.
