Giants give: *Madison Bumgarner (co-ace on staff at this point, age 22, cheap thru 2016)
*Barry Zito - #4 starter, 2-1, 2.53 ERA *Brent Pill (1B, 2B eligible), 27, cheap thru 2016) Nats void of 1B *Brandon Crawford, SS, 1st full year in majors, cheap thru 2016 *Nate Schierholtz, OF, 28, cheap for 3 years *$19,000,000 for Zito 2012 contract Nationals give: *Jordan Zimmerman, 25, #3 on depth chart, cheap thru 2015 *Bryce Harper, 19, #1 Prospect, cheap thru 2015. Great prospect, but not proven yet *Corey Brown, OF, 26, still in minors but still a possible major leaguer. Giants accept this trade to improve it's outfield, which is main reason for not being a competitor this year. In Harper, #1 prospect, sky's the limit, but is still unproven at the major league level. Brown is a journeyman OF, but may be able to help in future. Zimmerman is a quality SP, but not on the level of Bumgarner, who's younger and fast becoming an elite SP. 44

The Giants and Rays have struck a deal.
The Giants give: Ryan Vogelsong Santiago Casilla Aubrey Huff Huff salary ($10 mil) for 2012 The Rays give: Michael Pineda Jackie Bradley, Jr. With this trade, the Rays benefit this year in it's run for the roses! Vogelsong is a quality starter, Casilla is the Giants closer this year with Brian Wilson out, and Huff is 1B/OF eligible. Huff is struggling this year, thus the Giants willing to pay his salary to open a spot on it's 40 man roster. The Giants receive a predicted top of the rotation starter in Pineda, with inherit risk due to his recent shoulder surgery. All claim the surgery was a success, and he will be ready to go at the start of 2013. Bradley is an exciting OF prospect for the future, an area the Giants sorely need to improve. He's the #7 Boston prospect per Fangraphs before his first full season. Vogelsong and Huff were in their last year of contract with the Giants, and Wilson returning next spring should move Casilla back to the setup role, and has only 2012 and 2013 remaining on his contract. This trade is a win/win for both teams. It was great negotiating with Player, and was certainly thorough exploration through each others' rosters. 46
Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Archives / Sporsnut Surgery Posponed Until Early Next Week!« on: May 17, 2012, 04:15:35 PM »
As I was about to be wheeled into surgery, three tubes attached to my arms, my surgeon came to me and let me know he had to postpone surgery because a machine that was vital to monitor my spinal cord during surgery wasn't working properly. So, we'll do it all over again early next week, either Monday or Tuesday, as soon as he can reschedule with the hospital for an operating room.

Just wanted all to know I will be going in for neck surgery Thursday AM, so I'll be out of touch at least Thursday, and possibly Friday. I'll be in the hospital until Saturday or Sunday, depending on how I'm doing.
If you have any trade requests, please let me know today and until tomorrow afternoon. Any received after that will be dealt with no sooner than the weekend. I'll have my I-Pad with me in the hospital, so once I'm recovered a bit, I'll be back online. Any trades I agree with while I'm in the hospital are subject to review, as I won't have my full mental faculties available (but of course, how will anyone who knows me know the difference )! 49
