There's chatter that the NHL could let all teams end the "regular season" with 71 games played and start the Playoffs immediately. If that scenario plays out, our FNHL playoffs would not work.Perhaps a suggestion would be to repurpose the remainder of the 2019-20 FNHL playoffs and plug it into the start of the 2020-21 NHL season's schedule. Just a suggestion.
Do we have to wait until a month in to have the supplemental and Entry draft? Those are based on results of playoffs.
Also, you would have to change the scoring because fights are an advanced stat and would need a premium fee to use.
This idea has LEGS baby!I like that idea to play out the remainder of the 2019-20 playoffs.Running with that idea to building on that thought, we could create a parallel league with the 8 remaining playoff teams at the start of 2020-21 and play out * Round 2 Thurs-Sun -- 4 days* Conference Finals -- 1 week * FNHL FINALS -- 2 weeksWe would have to ensure:* the remaining 8 teams have a say and* 8 teams would need to agree to any setup that is not the expected regular course of the FNHL playoffs we normally undertake* 8 teams would need to agree unanimously that the prize pool is in-play or agree the remainder of FNHL playoffs are for fun only with no official result recorded.Parallel league to play out the remainder of the playoffs would be free to setup on Fantrax because it's less than 12 or 16 teams -- but to be double checked by myself & PR.I believe commissioner controls would allow me and PR to set matchups for each remaining Playoff Round.
In order to do this properly our rosters would have to be what they are now just for the parallel playoffs. 2020-21 rosters will be different do to contracts, trades, and the drafts. If that’s the case i like it.
I'm not opposed to it, so I won't block it.Just that everyone needs to consider that it's a different season, so it will change the dynamics. Players who are UFA's will be unsigned ... which will be even more likely if the NHL has a much shorter offseason. Some will retire. Some will move on to the KHL. Some goalies will lose their starting jobs. Some skaters will get demoted to the AHL.These are all things that we adjust to over the course of an offseason ... and even over the course of the regular season. But there will be no course for adjustment in a 3-4 week playoff. No trades. No FA signings. Just luck of the draw.Just something to think about.
