The activity in this league is certainly welcome. The Contraction Draft went very quickly because all of you made an effort to respond to the PMs when it was your turn. The same appears to be happening with our FYPD.
With that, we all know that Free Agency will be descending upon us within a week or so, and there are some things everyone needs to know before we begin the bidding.
1: During the free agency period, trading will be placed on hold. There have already been 5 trades negotiated and approved, with 3 additional trades on the board. I anticipate free agency opening up on Monday, January 30th @ 9:00 am ET. That would give us a week to complete our 3 Round FYPD. That gives everyone 7 days to complete trades before free agency. This is not intended to stifle activity, it is actually a preemptive move to prevent some trying to negotiate a trade to gain cap space during free agency and bid with money they don't really have.
2: In WCBII, there is a 5 bid limit rule. PLEASE honor this rule. The last thing I want to do is have to step in and disqualify someone from bidding on a particular player because they place a 6th bid. We can all count to 5, so please bid wisely.
3: Under no circumstances shall anyone be allowed to edit a bid. This always causes bad feelings, so please don't do it. Not only would it disqualify you from bidding on that player, it will count as one of your open bids until it is concluded.
4: The minimum annual salary is $0.3m. Bids are made in total contract amounts. Once a bid is won, you can decide on contract years.
5: The window for a winning bid is 48 hours.
The minimum bid raise is $300k for a total bid less than $9.9m.
The minimum bid raise is $1m for total bids $10.0m or higher.
6: Make sure you have the cap to bid on FA or your bid will be illegal and not recognized. This is one of the reasons for having a moratorium on trading during free agency.
None of these things are new, or prohibitive, they are just things we need to make things run smoothly. No one likes a bunch of rules, but then again, no one likes chaos either. I just think that knowing these things upfront will help everyone get through the process without any drama.
