Official Guidelines: Owning 2nd franchise
« on: January 23, 2014, 02:18:25 PM »
Here's the OFFICIAL guidelines based on feedback from various owners given the discussion about boosting activity level and managing multiple teams...

Guidlines to allow owners to purchase a 2nd FNHL franchise:
1) NOT SAME DIVISION - Owners can only purchase a 2nd franchise from the Division their 1st team is not part of.

2) MAX 3 - Owners can own a maximum of 3 2 Franchise NHL teams at any given time.

3) VALUE & FEES - Fees for a 2nd franchise are the same as for the any new owner (see franchise purchase fees and returning team annual fee); $Market Price Set by Owner and Year-2 20$ or FNHL determined fee thereafter.

4) TRADING - No trading between teams owned by same owner (or ensure the players don't find their way to the other owner's teams without a stop on 1-2 other teams) but at the same time isn't that the job of TC members to determine fairness of deals!?

5) MATCH-UPS - If teams owned by the same owner meet in a Weekly or Play-off match-up, all eligible players must be active (can't bench one of their teams).

6) LESS THAN 20% OWNERSHIP RULE Maximum of 6 owners (19.3%) holding multiple franchise at any given time.

7) SALE - Owners may set the sale price for their team(s) if they want to sell but must repay the 1st Year Buy-in fee submit $20 to the league per team if they complete a sale or alternatively return the franchise to the league to handle a sale (standard FNHL practice).

8) TRANSACTION THRU COMMISSIONERS - All sales must pass through Commissioners to be official or the new owner will not be allowed to enter league. This means Commissioners handle transaction to ensure payments are properly exchanged.

Personally, I think it's a good thing that
* helps pay the $80 Fantrax fee (allows us to have 31-teams in 1 league, avoid split league like yr 1 of FNHL)
* helps FNHL offer a minimum prize of approx $500 USD (varies depending on year) to the FNHL Champion,
* Boosts league activity - owners who pay want to play,
* as long as the owners are dedicated and willing to buy-in, it's a positive thing for the league and other owners IMO

june11-14: edits to annual franchise fee + subject as these guidelines are now official!

The more I think about this the more I want to own a second team here. My schedule though still busy is opening up more each week and the fact the rules are already a known entity to me makes the adjustment a non-issue and plain good sense to spend a little extra play money here.

I take it the available franchises in the Western Conference are :CGY: :COL-NHL: :LAK: :VAN: is that correct?

:MIN-NHL: will be available next season.

I'm guessing all other ownership rules apply such as guys must complete a year term with the same team before buying a different team or transferring to a different team?

Yes, Tyler will be stepping down at the end of the year and that Wild franchise might have another championship to their name when he does.

Yes, all other ownership rules will also apply including the need to serve a season before transferring to own another franchise. BAsic common sense stuff to keep the league stable and avoid transient owners jumping in and out of the league.

:iatp:  Great. We want active, knowledgeable owners guiding franchise in this league.

Correct. Those 4 franchise are currently League owned, managed and are available for sale.

In the East, :CLS: :MON-NHL: :NJD: :NYR: are available for purchase.

So if there are already 5 owners with multiple teams in FNHL there won't be anymore for sale as a 2nd team? Do I have that right?

I require from my teams, proper levels of anger, belligerence and some good ol' fashion piss 'n' vinegar.

We can vote on it if there's a demand over and above the initial limit of five we outlined. It will probably boil down to the caliber and commitment of the owner makng the request.

2) Owners can own a maximum of 2 Franchise NHL teams at any given time.

I will be relentless on this issue but I have no hostility. With that said hopefully we can agree that multiple ownership should gradually be curtailed starting with enforcement of existing rules. To be clear I am speaking to the ownership of 4 teams by e40. Perhaps next season we could see a change there?

  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).

  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.

  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen
    Today at 01:52:08 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning
    Today at 01:52:22 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them
    Today at 01:53:06 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Today at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Today at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL
    Today at 02:10:04 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: jwalkerjr88 is right
  • BayAreaBallers: on that u havat trade a bit here and there
    Today at 02:25:57 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Today at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Today at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Today at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    Today at 03:14:39 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: *your
  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Today at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
