Jackets wanted to move veteran RW Cole and I don't like LW Rene who's younger.
I asked for Lindback and the price was Berra. Fine with that.
My Flames eat some deadweight salary in Boll who's been on LTIR more often than not last few yrs to even out the cap hits more.
The prospects balance out the deal with Ouellet a RedWings product in return for a piece of my rebuilding project Clendening from the Hawks system.

BJ's confirm this deal with the Flames.

Columbus has some depth in goal with MiLR goalie Matt Hackett possibly moving up in Buffalo next season. Wasn't loving Lindback being buried in Tampa behind Bishop though I read Bishop got his head kicked in by a teammate last night so Lindback might get a few more starts if Benny Bishop lands on the IR. I think Berra is a better goalie and has the tools and ability to steal more starts in Calgary.

Cole runs hot and cold and we have enough Right Wings in Columbus so adding a LW was important. Bourque is almost 5yrs younger and has more gas left in the tank at 31.

As for the prospects I like Xavier more than Adam but that's a personal pref.

Good fun watching the rebuilding! Can't wait to see how it all turns out when you're done!

This isn't even a 2 month rental.

It's a 3 weeks rental because of the Olympic break for most of February.

Also if someone believes Tanner Richard is only worth a 3rd because he was drafted in the 3rd RD there'd be something wrong with that logic. That's like saying Datsyuk is worth no more than a 6th Rounder because he was drafted in the 6th or 171st in the 1998 Entry Draft. LOL

Hawks announce a 6 player deal with the Calgary Flames to add some frontline scoring for our playoff drive.

To CGY
Minor Leaguer C - Tanner Richard (2012: 3/71 - 0 Games) Bluechip prospect
Luke Schenn, $5.8m (2012-2016) 62.85 pts
LW Ryan Jones, $0.2m (2013-2015) 36.95
Minor Leaguer C - Chandler Stephenson (2012: 3/77 - 0 Games) decent prospect filler
Round 3 - 2014 (CHI)
6.0m in salary

To CHI
LW Max Pacioretty, $3.7m (2011-2014) 102.05 pts
D Josh Gorges, $1.3m (2013-2015) 40.05
5.0m in salary

Chicago ships off pieces of its future in Tanner and mid-round pick plus some veteran players to rent Pacioretty for 2months! Gorges helps balance the budget on this deal and the additional MiLR prospect was included because Calgary wants to restock the farm.

Not sure we want to resign Max at the end of the year at 7 million per so for my Hawks this is likely an expensive player rental.

More info I've tracked down for the playoff setup:

"The 4 winners of those Round 1 series will face each other for the Division Championship.
The 2 Division Play-off Champions will then compete for the Conference Championship.
The Conference Champions earn the right to battle for the Stanley Cup."

There's only 4 weeks left in the regular season, YEAH ONLY 4 weeks, and the playoff races are red hot and lots left to decide!

The West is STILL WIDE OPEN in terms of playoff spots.
The Eastern Conference playoff race is super tight.
