Title: Rules Committee Composition (RC Members Only Please)
Post by: shooter47 on July 29, 2013, 12:06:46 PM
Currently the FGM Rules Committee is made up of the following people

Rules Committee - used to decide on rule changes
Colby (Colby) :PIT:
Ben (Brewers GM) :MIL:
Dan (Dan Wood) :CIN:
Roy (rcankosy) :TEX:
Mike (VolsRaysBucs) :TB:
Bob (Shooter 47) :BAL:
Freddy (kungfuwig) :KC:

The current composition is 3 teams from the NL Central, 2 from the AL East, 1 from the AL Central and 1 from the AL West. The current grouping is also made up of mostly small market teams (:KC:, :PIT:, :TB:). I am proposing that we increase the size of the RC from 7 to 9 members to field at least one representative from each division and balance the market sizes that are represented. My nominations for the 2 new positions would be BHows of the :LAD: for the NL West and Papps :PHI: for the NL East.

RC members please respond with any questions, concerns or comments you may have with this proposal.

I don't feel strongly one way or another about expanding, I'd be fine with your proposal and nominations.  They're both good candidates IMO.

I think those two owners would work perfect as long as they are willing.

I'd be very happy to be a part of the RC.  :winner:

I had already expanded the RC from 7 to 9 by adding papps and Flash, but I did not post the news in  a separate thread.

I believe that Dan Wood has resigned from FGM unless he has changed his mind, so Rick could take his spot on the RC and his team can be made available.

Thank you for pointing this out Roy. I knew there had been a discussion on expanding the RC but was unaware that Papps and Flash had been placed onto it. I will update the FGM staff post to show that Papps and Flash are members of the RC.

Whenever new leadership comes in, they usually surround themselves with a staff they are comfortable working with.  I think you should stay with your original nomination of BHows to represent the NL West.  I didn't feel slighted when I saw he was a part of the FGM's RC because we have a new Commish and he's going with people he knows.  It's like a new coach coming in and hiring new assistants, no one is fired, it's just part of an expected practice.

Further, when I was first inserted into the RC, it was at the expense of another league member who really wanted a more active role in FGM.  There were hurt feelings at the end of the struggle to name a new GM for the Dodgers.  The damage from that whole affair seems to have been repaired in just a short time because our new Commish appointed that same member to a leadership position.

I'm okay with BHows representing the NL West on the RC.

BHows will be taking the open seat on the RC that was previously held by Dan Wood. I have talked to Flash and he will be staying on the RC in the seat he was appointed to by Roy. This brings the RC up to 9 members.

Thanks,
Shooter
