Title: Brewers and White Sox come to terms- 1/24/16 1:58P East
Post by: VolsRaysBucs on January 24, 2016, 02:53:37 PM
:MIL: send:
SP Jacob DeGrom 0.5(p-2017)
:CHW: send:
SP Lucas Giolito 0.5(p-n/a)
MI Zack Cozart 3(2018)
OF Victor Robles 0.5(p-n/a)

:MIL: accepts the terms of this deal in an effort to start the re-stocking process immediately.  We couldn't have gotten a better SP prospect, one who we hope will give us DeGrom-like production as soon as May or June of 2016.  We then kick in a cost-controlled veteran MI who was killing it last year before a knee injury ruined his year.  Low-risk, high reward type of player at a tough position to fill, we now have some decent depth in our MI going forward in Cozart, Wilmer Flores and Jorge Polanco, with Brandon Phillips on an expiring deal as well.  The real balance of this deal probably won't be determined for another couple of seasons, until we know how Robles will pan out.  He enter 2016 as a sure-fire top 100 spec and as high as top 50 in some circles.  Very tough moving a talent the likes of Jacob DeGrom, but Dan Wood doesn't mess around when he wants a player and this move address a couple of needs.  Best of luck to :CHW: and DW to confirm at his convenience.

*Since 6 degrees of separation is what makes this league unique from the rest, in a twist of fate, in Giolitto's initial bidding thread (I believe won by Sooner as the Yankees GM?), I was in on him back then, so I've long coveted him in this league*

Degrom is a top 10 pitcher. Giolito may become one, but I prefer a sure thing. Don't like Cozart. Robles is the same age as my son and he's about to enter Pre-K, so I really don't have the patience to wait around. Too much of a long term investment. Plus I think the AL Central is wide open, so maybe I'll finally make it to the playoffs in this league. Flags fly forever. Thanks Mike

In a league where pitching is secondary, I think :CHW: gave up a lot but management is solid there and they needed a SP. They got a good one!
