win or lose, this will be Snug's final season in DNHL. I decided a month or so ago that I will be hanging up my fantasy hockey skates at the end of this years playoffs. Its been a great run , having played since the first season. I never wanted to be one of those guys that just disappears or let their team run into the ground so would rather bow out while the team is still competitive. I am sure I will check back in every once in a while to chastise you guys. :toast: Here is to hoping I go out of top.

Nice try! I don't think pity points end up counting on the scoreboard, but you shall be missed. It is good to get out before you get a debilitating condition that eats your skin every time you sit in a computer chair.

Snug, we've faced off in the draft over prospects, in FA, and in the playoffs. I had to go through a great Colorado team the year I won my only Championship. You've always been good for trade negotiates and always fun to compete against.
As Rob said, it's been a pleasure being in a league with you all these years. :toth:

Going to be big shoes to fill whoever takes over the Avs.
Out of respect for Snug, I feel like that franchise shouldn't be relocated for at least a year or two!
Would be weird to not see the Avs logo on this page.

In Snugs honor I would also like to see Phil Kessel be the permanent banner. I can just photoshop different shirts on him to correspond with the champion each year. Maybe change the hotdogs to something from the champion city (every city has hot dogs I'd never change it).

sniff sniff, that would bring a tear to my eye to have kessel immortalized forever as the league banner. I know that's what Rob would want since he was simply over joyed when I chose that picture.

Well, It was a great run to end it. Going to officially turn the team over to Norry today so that he has a chance to drop a couple players under this years cap.
There is really no way for me to overcome a 70pt deficit with only one full day left. Its been a lot of fun. I am sure I will check back every now and then. Rob knows where to find me when he misses that picture of Phil Kessel.
Norry, I will give you the same advice my dad gives me. " dont do anything stupid" ha ha.

The Divey - Used the shame the team that has choosen to take the biggest dive , with the strongest roster.
The goon - team with the most PIMs on the year.
The Sniper - team that made the best valued Free agent pickup on the season. (not necessarily the best player but best player to dollar value)
The Predator - Goes to the team that made the best draft pick up on the season ( must be from that seasons supplemental draft) .

Was a good playoff run for you, sad to see you go. You've been here since I've been in this league and always good trade chats and general hockey talk and banter. But hey, real life is real life, this is just free fantasy. Gotta do what you've gotta do. Totally understandable. This is my escape from reality sometimes (and work).

Funny, I just said something similar to Rob as most of the awards are cut and paste jobs. My idea was to add incentive like a signing discount or something along those lines for being recognized as the best GM.
Some of these other ideas of Snug's are great too though I'd change the names....like the Goon award could be the Tiger Williams award or something along those lines. As far as the Divey goes, that's mine! No shame though as it's not only well within the rules but it adds interest at the bottom of the pack.

I love this. We should probably start another thread to get some other name ideas going. At least it would make the voting more fun and thoughtful.
I had also brought up incentivizing awards in the past but got some push back with the whole "the best getting better" logic. Should we re-open that discussion as well?
