Looking at the early possible Playoff matchups these would be the teams that would face off in the playoffs if they started today

Western Conference
Pacific

Central

Western Wildcards

Eastern Conference
Atlantic

Metropolitan

Eastern Wildcards

from Atlantic

from Atlantic

The interesting thing is there's lots of room for change in playoff positions with more than half the season to go and conference based matchups in the second half.

I'll be damned if my Hawks give up the lead in the Central Division.

NHL playoffs are based on a pre-determined bracket setup.
Check out this site http://www.nhlplayoffsbracket.com/2014/index.php

There's no re-seeding after each round as far as I can tell.
The NHL is trying this out and if it's really messed up or doesn't prove to be the best way for teams to matchup they'll adjust the format in the coming years from what I've read.

We're looking to deal for another D. A defenseman with a good shot, PP time, hits and body-checks people for laughs and a SOB kind of mean-streak who's not afraid of mugging his own mother. LOL
