Just putting this up now so I don't forget. You'll want to wait until most of offseason FA resolves before submitting your ranks.
Respond to this thread with your prediction for this coming years standings from 1 to 20 (post-playoff standings). Your list will be scored at the end of the season as follows:
5 points for correctly predicting a teams exact position in the standings
4 points for predicting a team within 1 position in the standings
3 points for predicting a team within 2 positions
2 points for predicting a team within 3 positions
1 point for predicting a team within 4 positions
10 points for predicting the correct champion
Tiebreaker - predict the total combined score of our Stanley Cup Championship round
The winner of this contest will receive a 20% discount on any extension during the 2018 offseason extension period!
In addition, the winner shall receive the much coveted "Prognosticator Award".
***The discount is applied to the normal extendable amount and the length of the contract is based on the normal extendable amount. For example, if a player would normally extend at $5m for 4 or 5 years - the discounted contract would be $4m for 4 or 5 years. Note that the final contract does not adhere to the extension contract limits ($4m/year would normally qualify for 3 or 4 years) - the length limits apply to the original amount, not the discounted amount***
***This discount may be applied in addition to the Prospect Discount. It must be applied to the already discounted amount. So it's 30% off the original for prospect, then 20% off that amount. NOT 50% off the original extension price.***
***The discount may only be used on expiring players - it may not be used to extend a player who is currently under contract.***
Good luck!

May as well pump my own tires and put me 1st, although I think it's a given St.Louis takes it.
I'm also confused as to how the "conferences" thing works. As in, is it even possible this year for St.Louis and Vancouver to finish 1-2? I thought I would be in the "western conference" now.
Or is it all the teams on the left side above are one "conference" (Boston/Edmonton lines) and the teams on the right are the "eastern conference" (Carolina/Anaheim lines) ... Which doesn't makes sense given Anaheim is definitely not east haha.
Oooor... Is it Boston/Carolina in one and then Edmonton/Anaheim in another? ... Which makes more sense, but still unclear how it's all divided come playoffs.

DNHL has 4 divisions. Your team got moved into the Canada Division. Not sure where your comment about conferences is coming from.
The top team in each division makes the playoffs as the 1-4 seeds. Seeds 5 & 6 are the wildcards and get a buy from the first round. 7 plays 10 and 8 plays 9. The final order of the standings depends on who wins/loses in the playoffs. If me (St. Louis) and you (Vancouver) meet in the finals then we would finish 1st and 2nd in the final standings.

Ah, alright. I never really figured out how the ol playoff format works because I've never made it past the 1st round it seems, haha.

Yea there's no conferences. The icons above are the 4 divisions. Left and Right are not correlated any other way. The image below gives a clearer view:

Colorado wins the Power Rankings Contest!! For the 2nd year in a row, our Stanley Cup champ has won our Rankings contest... Perhaps we need to rethink the points we give for the Champ, since everyone picks themselves!! In any case, congrats Snuggy! See the initial post for details on your extension discount.
