Title: Idea?
Post by: blkhwkfn on December 11, 2016, 01:10:46 AM
Hey since PPG has a light work load here. Has the 2-way contract and waivers ever been discused for FNHL? FAs could have a waiver value of 3 (a call up and demotion would count as -1) meaning they can get called up and demoted 3 times before having to clear waivers to remain on the team. EL players are double the FAs (6). FAs are the players unsigned during the season not picked up in the off season.

I've seen similar things in other leagues and I killed them.

I kinda like that you gotta work so hard in this league. My minors would be full if it weren't so strict on prospects and callus.

Great idea.

Just chiming in my 2 cents.

This league is great and thats just about the only situation thats missing. I believe to take the work load of of PPG one or two people would have to monitor the movement on the waiver process. The ideal situation would be one person for each conference.

I talked it over with PR. His reasons are too many moving parts to oversee.
Even I would have a tough time tracking the Waivers.

Owners are already somewhat divided on 40 game limit for MiLR players automatically getting promoted versus what we do with the 24hr warning when discovered.

Haha
When I get bored I login and watch PPG process transactions in realtume :-)

A couple of leagues offer that on this site.

Without supporting staff to track and monitor Waivers I doubt we'd execute it well here in FNHL.

Also it would devalue our draft picks and part of what makes FNHL different is that picks are for current yr draftees only and the draftees cant be moved up and down.

But never say never.

Waivers could be interesting to scoop someone prospect but we would have to reduce rosters from 30 to like 23 to be realistic.

Could bump up games to about 60, that would be much less work than a complete overhaul. I am in leagues with the waiver system and it's fun, but its not really something that you can do 5 years in.

Bumping up prospect gms to 60 or 80 would help protect young players and boost value of draft picks too.

Right now , i dont find prospects of high value there are some but for the most part by 40 games the player isnt even well established and your forced into a contract for them.

Here is an idea that wouldnt require more administration but would give more value to having prospects on your team.

1) bump up to 60 or 70 games played before they must be promoted. (this would allow a little more time for them to establish and determine what you really have)

2) between 0- 60 games (or 70) prospects can be freely used on your active roster.   Basically your minor league becomes an extension of your pro roster.

this would give more value to your prospects because you could take advantage of their points produced during their time as a prospect. No additional admin work since teams would only need to announce contract when a player has reached their minors eligibility.

If anything this more closely resembles the current state of the NHL .  Teams use their AHL affiliate rosters all the time for call ups and demotions without having to go through waivers.  Players typically only have to go through waivers after they have played a particular # of games or reached an age limit.

We call Snugerud the FNHL Troll because he comes and goes from FNHL annually. J  We also enjoy his company.

Increasing the  max games played by MiLR Players is a good idea. Daddy and Snug :toast:

We can put it to a vote shortly. :judge:

i like it, my medicated ramblings sprung a useful idea. Much easier process than waivers on evaluation of players. Good call snug
