« on: June 10, 2012, 04:56:27 PM »

Mark Olver, $0.2m (2012-13)
:Nashville: 4th Round Pick

*Kimmo Timonen, $6.3m (2012-13)
Henrik Karlsson, N/C (26 games)

Deal is pretty straight forward I think. I wanted a goalie prospect and Timmonen is window dressing. Thanks Norrya!  :toast:

Rules/Waivers/1st Paragraph
Stipulation: Only players in the last year of their contract can be sent down to the minors.
______________

I'd like to discuss the possibility of lifting this restriction. Reasoning as follows:

- The NHL makes no such stipulation. ex. Wade Redden
- GM's that made poor decisions at the entry draft are still handcuffed by too many large contracts. ex. Dallas
- The cap number for the minor league roster provides a means to limit over-use.
______________

There's another way to limit over-use of Waivers that is currently used by the NHL. The requirement to pay half a players salary if they are claimed by another team upon recall from the minors. I believe this amendment would:

- Tie in with Drew's proposal to find a way to free up players like Timmonen and Phaneuf.
- Provide a further breaking mechanism on using Waivers.

Please discuss.

Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / Nashville/Columbus Trade
« on: April 29, 2012, 10:51:58 PM »
I'm posting this trade as conditional to my trade with Montreal. If that trade (the one where Montreal announced we'd struck gold) is approved then this one can be processed as well. If not it's null and void.

Travis Zajac, $3.9m (2012-13)
Jakub Voracek, $3.2m (2013-14)

Mike Riberio, $5.0m (2012-13)
Blake Wheeler, $3.6m (2013-14)

I make this trade to free cap space while sending obviously superior players to Columbus. I have to thank the Blue Jacket's GM for his patience and understanding. It took a lot of effort to get to this agreement but it was based on the assumption that the other deals I have made are fair.

Really hope this isn't controversial too.  :toth:

Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / Dallas and Nashville again.
« on: April 29, 2012, 05:06:37 PM »
Nashville gets Ilya Kovalchuk, $6.7m (2013-14) for Nick Spaling, $1.0m (2012-13) and Henrik Zetterberg, $6.1m (2013-14).

I like Kovi for his LW/RW positioning. I think Zetter will have a better year but Kovi's prolly worth the extra .6m. Thanks again Gilly!

Yeah, I like Lack too. I'll keep fishing for common ground though....would you take on a bit of Cap and/or consider Ribiero or Berglund for Krejci? Would you move Peverley?

Backyard NHL: Archives / Nashville/Toronto Deal

Toronto gets N Backstrom for Z Chara straight up.

To Dallas

C - Nazem Kadri, $0.2m (2013-14)
LW - Nick Foligno, $2.5m (2013-14)
LW/RW - Rene Bourque, $3.3m (2013-14)
D - Brooks Orpik, $3.8m (2013-14)
D- Carl Gunnarsson, $2.5m (2012-13)

12.3m

To Nashville

C- Patrik Berglund, $4.1m (2012-13)
LW - Henrik Zetterberg, $6.1m (2013-14)
D - Nick Leddy, $2.0m (2012-13)
D - Dylan Olsen, N/C (28 games)

12.2m

There was a lot of back and forth on this. I'm happy with my end of it but reluctant to part with Kadri so soon. Love pairing Zetterberg up with Datsyuk and Leddy and Berglund are quality upgrades.  Gives Gilly a lot more depth to work with and may help him move another big contract.

  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...

  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool

  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).

  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen

  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning

  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them

  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Yesterday at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured

  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did

  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Yesterday at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide

  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
