Old Powerhouse: Completed Transactions / Orioles 2016 Contracts
« on: December 30, 2016, 12:06:07 PM »
Orioles have choose not to extend Scott Kazmir making him a free agent

Braves get:
Brady Aiken

Red Sox get:
Ben Taylor

This is a simple swap of minor league arms. I like Aiken's upside more than Taylor's even with the TJ. Simple as that. So. To confirm

Braves buyout Andre Ethier $13m contract for $4.25m

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Completed Transactions / Braves Roster Moves
« on: December 20, 2016, 03:43:35 PM »
Braves want to cut:
David Hale
JJ Hoover
Tyler Pastornicky
Ed Lucas
Antoan Richardson
Wilkin Ramirez

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Completed Transactions / Braves - Blue Jays deal
« on: December 19, 2016, 10:43:37 PM »
Braves get:
Yan Gomes ($2.5m)

Blue Jays get:
Chasen Shreve ($480,000)
Dillion Tate (prospect)

With a void at catcher Gomes fills a need at a reasonable cost. Shreve not Tate did I plan on being a long term contributor so using them to fill an immediate need is a no brainer.

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Completed Transactions / Braves - Cardinals deal
« on: December 19, 2016, 10:36:18 PM »
Braves get:
Marcell Ozuna ($480,000)
Adam Ottavino (1.3m)
Michael Wacha ($539,000)

Cardinals get:
Salvador Perez ($2.0m)
Jack Wynkoop (prospect)

With the lack of bats I have giving up Perez was tough but this was the type of deal it would take. I get a legit bat back in Ozuna, plus two arms that fill needs. Perez is a great asset to have but with a team in as much need as mine is, I had to maximize his value

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Completed Transactions / Braves - Giants trade
« on: December 18, 2016, 08:21:37 PM »
Giants get:
Chris Ellis (P)
Tyler Wagner (P)
Matt Reynolds (P)
Cody Reed (P)

Braves get:
Charlie Blackmon (3.5)

Braves sacrifice some youth for a bat. Blackmon is a solid bat on a reasonable deal and right now the team needs bats. Willing to sacrifice a little of tomorrow to make this team more legit today.

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Completed Transactions / Braves and Angels Trade
« on: December 17, 2016, 10:58:07 PM »
Angels get:
Howie Kendrick (7.0)
Drew Hutchinson (2.2)

Braves get:
Garrett Richards (6.425)
Rusney Castillo (480,000)

For Braves this is no brainer. Assuming Richards is healthy he's ace potential and Castillo still has potential. Happy to move Kendrick and the salary for an older guy.

  • Brent: Greg Maddux had the best outlook.  He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him.  Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.
    May 05, 2024, 04:33:51 PM
  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
    May 05, 2024, 04:35:28 PM
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.
    May 05, 2024, 05:15:18 PM
  • Daddy: There shouldn't be many innings available in FA in dynasty fantasy leagues IMO. Thats guaranteed money! To hell with High A ball.
    May 05, 2024, 05:21:23 PM
  • Daddy: Until someone starts a minor league baseball fantasy game or option. Maybe we can petition fantrax? I just dont think they will care for that.
    May 05, 2024, 05:23:07 PM
  • Daddy: Neither should we (so much). Every league i see is MLB.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    May 05, 2024, 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen
    May 05, 2024, 06:02:39 PM
  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
    May 05, 2024, 06:20:28 PM
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
    May 05, 2024, 06:22:29 PM
  • Daddy: Load up on MLB guys, then near MLB guys, and only then is the quality of your prospects matter. Ya dig ;)
    May 05, 2024, 06:24:36 PM
  • Brent: I over value minors to a fault, but I am softening on that stance.

    May 06, 2024, 07:06:43 PM
  • Daddy: Now either there are a lot of people copying our style or trying to learn it.. or possibly there is just that much interest by visitors. Maybe both. Either way, we got to be doing something right. The NHL LIVE season, will start with an amateur draft.
