I sense there are owners who do not like the use of minimum wage for supplemental draft prospects but don't understand why. It benefits all of us equally does it not? No one has any special advantage, correct? What am I missing? We all drafted players we wanted which is the goal of the draft IMO.

Franchise NHL / Re: DISCUSSION: Blocked Shot Stat?
« on: April 17, 2019, 09:23:01 PM »
I for one do not see added value in including the Blocked Shots category. This league seems to be running well and introducing a new scoring category could impact teams and strategies even if it will not be implemented immediately. There is no urgent need for Blocked Shots so I would not be in favor of added it. Thanks.

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Re: Sens/Sharks deal

:OTT" Trade to Ottawa
W - Blake Comeau, $2.8m (2017-2020)
D - Justin Falk, $0.6m (2018-2020)

:SJ: Trade to SJ
G - Magnus Hellberg (2011: 2/38 - 4 Games)
Round 4 - 2019 :OTT:

Sens make this deal to bring in players that can contribute points nightly. Falk is a project but can play a decent game. Hellberg may never return to the North American and just signed an extension with his KHL team through 2022.

SJ owner to confirm.
:SJ: confirm this trade with Ottawa. We like prospect goalie Hellberg a lot. He's a big bodied goaltender who posted great numbers in the AHL and KHL. The money to return the the NHL will be enough to lure him back with a few more yrs of seasoning in the K. If nothing else, the 4th round pick helps ease the pain of this gamble. Thanks EG!

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.

    May 05, 2024, 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: Greg Maddux had the best outlook.  He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him.  Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.

    May 05, 2024, 04:35:28 PM

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    May 05, 2024, 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen
