Title: '11 FGM Playoffs (new Fantrax league)
Post by: Colby on August 22, 2011, 11:24:52 AM
The FGM playoffs are being held at a special Fantrax league - http://www3.fantrax.com/fantasy/home.go?leagueId=idbla1y6grnilvre

The Divisional and Championship Series rounds are each one week long.  The World Series is two weeks long.

National League Divisional Series
:PHI: Philadelphia Phillies (111-51) vs. :MIL: Milwaukee Brewers (102-60)
:LAD: Los Angeles Dodgers (107-55) vs. :STL: St. Louis Cardinals (106-56)

American League Divisional Series
:OAK: Oakland Athletics (103-59) vs. :TOR: Toronto Blue Jays (97-65)
:NYY: New York Yankees (100-62) vs. :CLE: Cleveland Indians (92-70)

Half of the teams are small markets.  Six playoff teams from last year return this year with the Indians and Cardinals being the new teams.

Playoff streaks
Oakland and Toronto are in the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive year.
Milwaukee is in the playoffs for the third year in a row.
Los Angeles and New York are in for the 4th year in a row.
It is Philly's 5th year in a row.

Fun facts... Philies beat the Brewers in the 2009 FGM NLCS.  The real-life Dodgers beat the real-life Cards in the NLDS in 2009, but that doesn't count for our records.  You have to go back to the 2004 NLDS where the Cards won en route to an NL pennant (lost to the Red Sox).  Oakland beat Toronto in last year's ALDS.

All non-playoff teams were contracted, so you do not have access to the league.  Yes, playoffs started yesterday.
