Broadway & Cabbage Town Deal.
« on: August 11, 2020, 05:34:45 PM »
NYR send
C - Aleksi Saarela (2015: 3/89 - 0 Games)
Round 2 - 2020 :NYR:

FOR

TOR send
Darcy Kuemper, $4.7m (2017-2020)

Rangers making a deal to bring in another backstop who can plug the hole in net for us after Devan didn't exactly deliver the type of performance we paid him for last yr. We're dealing a hot prospect who's NHL ready and a healthy mid-2nd Rounder that we know Blkhwkfn will turn into another killer prospect. Leafs to confirm. Thanks for the talks Blk!:thumbsup:

TML approves this deal it was made to create more cap room to sign Our TG the tandem of the two were nice but as it played out their contracts were up at the same time. Saarela we feel is a a 3rd line guy especially on FLA, we look for him to step up his play next season. The 14th pick in the second round will come in handy on draft day! Thanks Burke for the easy talks.

In other news as of today I am cold turkey of my pain meds which I feel made me worse than the pain I was/am in. I felt like a zombie. Now it’s CBD oil and Pot.

Fair trade. This one's all about playing potential for both teams. I'm not TC but I'm good with this deal. :iatp:

:iatp: Agree with Mordecai. Good for both teams. Leafs clear cap for extensions and add youth. Rangers add another goalie with potential to steal starts in the desert.

Not sure if we all vote but this looks good and the two teams involved get what they need equally IMO. Toronto clearing cap, avoids a gigantic extension and unloads a risky backup turned 1B behind Antti "Glass" Raanta. New York trades in a great prospect and great draft pick and eats cap to gain some goalie starts. I like it!

I think Rangers are in the high risk reward range with this deal. Darcy has been pumping out the wins the more ice time the Yotes hand him. They might just ship Raanta and keep Adin Hill as Kuemper's understudy. Of course, Kuemper could also turn into Scott Darling on the Rangers roster but with a heftier cap hit of close to $10 million. Damn! Buds have a sure thing in a mid-2nd rounder plus a bluechip rookie in the kid with too many "A's" in his name, Saarela.:iatp:

:iatp: I'll give the edge to Toronto for unloading a contract and extension they can't afford to be able to now resign their #1 goalie, Connor Hellebuyck. Nicely done Blk!

Best assessment here by the Gamer

This was an ideal target for a rebuilding franchise to gamble on flipping Darcy using their cap space. 60%+ of the starts w those numbers Darcy will be worth quite a bit more in season.

There’s no doubt Saarela will be good if blkhwkfn and burke scouts targeted

Good trade folks

:iatp: Smart trade for both owners. Sometimes you need to cash one thing in to get more of another.
