Are we still waiting on some teams to pick their keepers?  I'm ready to get this draft rolling and am ready to make the #1 overall pick

Dynasty NHL: Completed Transactions / Bruins-Jets Deal
« on: June 21, 2012, 11:18:38 AM »
:BOS-NHL: receives:

G Oliver Roy, $m (P-n/a)
2nd Round Supplemental Pick (#21 overall)

:WIN: receives:

X-C Chris Kelly, , $0m this year
X-D Kevin Klein, , $0m this year

:WIN: does this deal to bring in more pieces without really losing any roster pieces.  Both guys are going to be a little expensive to sign, but I have plenty of room, and am not worried about that.

I really see this as a win-win for both Rob and I.  Thanks for the easy deal Rob.

Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / DALLAS AND MINNESOTA DEAL
« on: June 01, 2012, 06:09:21 PM »
:MIN-NHL: receives:

Henrik Zetterberg, $6.1m (2013-14)
Chad Johnson, N/C (6 games)

:DAL-NHL: receives:

Brendan Morrow, $4.1m (2012-13)
Sergei Kostitsyn, $2.0m (2013-14)

I hate losing Kostitsyn with his ability, age and contract.  Morrow was going to be a nice 4.1m salary dump to the minors, and I have actually had a lot of interest in him.

I really like Zetteberg even with his contract.  I'm trying to be competitive this year, and he is going to hopefully help out.  Johnson adds to my young goalies.

Thanks to hockeyfreak for the easy deal!

Backyard NHL: Archives / Roster Cap Error
« on: May 29, 2012, 03:58:38 PM »
Drew,

Looks like you got this deal posted, but the cap does not reflect the trade.  I think I should have lost 1m.

Could be my mistake, but just wanting to check it.  Thanks

:VAN: receives:

Drew Doughty, $6.9m (2013-14)
Chris Stewart, $2.5m (2013-14)
:PIT-NHL: Round 4

:MIN-NHL: receives:

David Backes, $6.1m (2012-13)
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, $3.0m (2012-13)

I do this to help my RW position.  I also have way too much cap spent at Dman with Green and Carlson already there.  Adding JSG gives me a nice vet that may get some starts.

Thanks bridgestone, hope this one looks more even to everyone!

Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / MINNESOTA AND VANCOUVER DEAL
« on: May 26, 2012, 02:02:31 AM »
:VAN: receives:

Steve Montador, $1.5m (2012-13)
Drew Doughty, $6.9m (2013-14)
Sergei Kostitsyn, $2.0m (2013-14)
Chris Stewart, $2.5m (2013-14)
:MIN-NHL: Round 1

:MIN-NHL: receives:

David Backes, $6.1m (2012-13)
Anthony Stewart, $1.0m (2012-13)
Bobby Butler, $0.7m (2013-14)
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, $3.0m (2012-13)
Cory Schneider, $2.0m (2013-14)

I accept this deal.  It is A LOT to give up for Schneider, but I like the Backes for Doughty trade because I am deep at Defense.  Took a lot of back and forth, but I'm happy with the deal.  Thanks!

  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    May 05, 2024, 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: Greg Maddux had the best outlook.  He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him.  Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.

  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
    May 05, 2024, 04:35:28 PM
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Daddy: There shouldn't be many innings available in FA in dynasty fantasy leagues IMO. Thats guaranteed money! To hell with High A ball.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    May 05, 2024, 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
    May 05, 2024, 06:20:28 PM
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
    May 05, 2024, 06:22:29 PM
  • Daddy: Load up on MLB guys, then near MLB guys, and only then is the quality of your prospects matter. Ya dig ;)
