When will this guy return from his concussion and most recent injury in a long line of injuries? With some luck he'll get back to playing by late-January 2012 and not be out 9 months like some other guys.

Newly acquired Latendresse (from Minnesota) will be extended at the new salary for 3 years

LW, Guillaume Latendresse, $2.5m (2011-2012)
2010-2011 18.2 points and ranked #145   $0.2 Million (N/A so we use league minimum?)
2011-2012 29.95 points and ranked #81   $1.1 Million
Guillaume Latendresse, $1.5m (2013-2014)

Confirmed. Was hoping to re-sign Latendresse but injury problems worry me so picked up a replacement in Tanguay but at a steeper price. Pick up a goalie to get a couple starts for a surprising team in FLA. Condra has been playing well for me lately but had to move him to get more of a punch on my team. Thanks dickiedunn for easy negotiations  :toast:

I think I'm rolling the dice with Latendresse and his current concussion, plus his injury history. On the brightside I'm hoping that this 24 year old can grow out of his injury riddled present and past. If he does, Latendresse will be worth the cap hit next season because I don't expect him to be very productive this season after he comes back from a concussion.

:iatp: Nice trade as i also like "the wild side" Ottawa is really RE-building

That's funny Tarheels55! "wild-side" and "RE-building." lol

PigsRule, I don't mind Minnesota winning this deal. At the end of the day I just want to bring in players I want to re-build my Senators around. Not to mention trade wins and loses are subjective.  :koolaid:

If a GM is very particular about the players he wants and has a specific shopping list then sure it can take a while to build a custom team. My Senators had a decent roster though one that was and still remains winless however we have enough parts to deal to bring in some nice players to build around for later this season and mainly heading into 2012-13.

I've been pretty active hear trying to make trades and therefore have moved things along in the re-building process but I can see how the team wouldn't change much if I only sent 1 or 2 trade offers a week since more than half the trade offer PMs I've sent haven't been answered or replied to in over 2 weeks since I joined and sent them. So what I'm saying is you really have to put time into this.

Of course I'm not saying Joe's SD team isn't taking the time it is to re-tool since trades also depend on other teams willing to accept players you want to move or even reply to PMs the negotiate. lol

The new Ottawa Senators management strike another deal. The rebuilding and youth movement takes us to the twin city and we move a veteran sniper and a back-up goaltender for some young blood. Tough to let our only active goalie go to another team but we know he'll be on a winning team.

Coming to OTT
RW, Erik Condra, $0.6, (2012-2013)
LW, Guillaume Latendresse, $2.5m (2011-2012)
MIN 2nd round pick

for

Going to MIN
LW, Alex Tanguary, $3.4m, (2013-2014)
G, Scott Clemmensen, $1.2m (2013-2014)
OTT 3rd round pick

We continue building for the future. Thank you for making trade #4 happen for this team, Drew!

I believe it will takes me 3 years to rebuild the :ANA: team here.

In that case Snake you should hire a new GM to do the work for you as the owner. lol

Drew, I believe that works too but only for active teams. I also believe at any point a team can just stop playing in "re-building" mode and compete.

Joe, a long time is relative and I think in fantasy a "Long time" is one season. If you have to re-build for and not be competitive for more than one year you are bound to lose interest. No one like losing for too long.

I see my Franchise NHL Senators team as a 1 year re-build with a shift to my brand of core players and a farm system that's ready to move up within the next several months or become more valuable as prospects in that time.

A few people told me I can play without a starting goalie so I might just put that to the test or see what the off-season brings with the new pool of free agents.

I honestly think re-building is more interesting that taking over a winner or play-off team because there's more room to shape the roster to meet your needs and how you play.

OTTAWA SENATORS WANT TO TRADE WITH YOU! UPDATE 3!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a list of players we're looking to deal to make room for the players the new Senators management wants to bring to the team. We're not dumping anyone, just looking to exchange these assets for ones we want to re-build around.

G, Pascal Leclaire, $0.5m (2012-2013) newly extended
G, Cedrick Desjardins, $0.2m (2011-2012)

C, Mike Fisher, $4.2m (2012-2013) traded to LA
C, Rich Peverley, $1.3m (2011-2012) traded to LA
G, Scott Clemmensen, $1.2m (2013-2014) traded to Minnesota
LW, Alex Tanguay, $3.4m, (2013-2014) traded to Minnesota
C, Jason Spezza, $7.0m (2014-2015) traded to Pittsburgh
LW, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, $4.1m (2012-2013) traded to Pittsburgh
RW, Daniel Alfredsson, $4.9m (2012-2013) traded to Florida
RW, Jared Staal, $0.2m (2011-2012) bought-out and released to free agency
D, Matt Carkner, $0.7m (2011-2012) traded to Florida
D, Brian Lee, $0.6m (2011-2012) traded to Florida
D, Kevin Bieska, $4.3m (2013-2014) traded to Montreal

I want contracts with a maximum value of $3 Million ... ideally below $2.0 Million.

These are great players for teams in the play-off hunt to acquire to put them over the top.

How long should it take to rebuild a fantasy hockey team?

I'm thinking 1 season. You should be motivated to move out players that you don't want to rebuild around and bring in the new group within a season. I mean this is fantasy right!? So it shouldn't take years or it'd be like watching paint dry and I mean oilbased paint, not latex. lol
