I like how Franchise Player tags have the ability to fuel trades. This is a good example of that.

I don't get why Halo is bashing Ducks trades?? Preds send 300 pts, Ducks shipping off 160pts. How it that a Preds win? Perhaps cap? I think the Ducks are getting a solid package.

That actually makes good sense for both teams.

Stars get players to post points while Islanders get cap relief. Win-win.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Ducks don't have any goalies so if they feel this gets them some points in that position then it's worth what it's worth. I checked the stats and Nilsson racked up a hair under 200 points while Galchenyuk posted a touch over 100pts. Skaters are easier to find than goalies. Also, a 6th doesn't guarantee a superstar, just look at the prospect on the Duck's roster by the name of Puljujarvi. Overall I'm OK with this deal.

That's a winning deal for the Islanders who move Lehner and get Varlamov who'll get the benefit of Barry's defensive system protecting him.

Seattle should likely follow the guidelines for expansion that Vegas did. It was a successful formula for an expansion team and makes the NHL look like it's on top of it's business plan.
