TO: :PHO: Coyotes
David Schlemko, $1.5m (2014-2015)

I do this deal to get some much needed cap space .
Plus i get D that i won't be outbidded  and my old draft pick :toth:
Great wheeling and dealing by Burkes Boys a real tough customer :toast:

:iatp: Sharks confirm this trade.
I figure we should get back into the game this year and try to avoid earning that first overall pick. Taking on $6.5 million in additional cap wasn't part of the plan this summer but to add a goalie that will help us avoid the cellar was too tempting. Dealing a 2nd rounder and a scoring defenseman is worth the gamble for a couple of years of service from Vokoun.
Thanks Hockeyfreak47. Good negotiating with you! :toast:

This is a good deal by both teams. Goalies are valuable, even split starters and backups. The Coyotes get a good D man and a good chunk of cap space.

I'm not TC but want to say smart deal for both teams. Yotes are getting busy! Watch out.

Ballsy trade by the guys involved.
I'll give the edge to the team that cleared a 8m contract off their books.
Goalie or not, freeing up that chunk of change frees the Coyotes up to make other key moves especially with the cap coming down not many teams could've eaten such a big salary.

BOLD move. :SJ: could be the winner if Tomas splits starts with MAF which is not likely but stranger things have happened in sports. Otherwise as it stands, :PHO: gets the nod here by clearing a lot of cap.

If not for the Sharks having so much room under the cap I would say Phoenix got the edge in this trade by offloading a big contract. So I will give the slight edge to San Jose for landing a goalie in this goalie starved league.
