ok, looks like Ripper beat me too it as I posted this exact suggestion in the other post. I disagree on the domino effect because its not about letting every one of your minors hit 80games before promoting them, its more about waiting until they can become productive nhl players for your team. some do that in 10 games, others take 110 games. 80 games does three things. 1) allows you to properly evaluate a player before making that decision 2) allows teams the flexibility that if they have a 30 man team already they wont be force into a drop mid season. 3) addresses a flaw in the original rules that inadvertently devalues draft picks.
I still think the change to players min salary is unnecessary since market has and will always dictated player values. It's not a bad idea, but its also not a good idea. Changes in league rules should only be done with the idea of directly addressing a flaw in the original rule set. I would run the metrics through and through before considering a change like this.
With the league moving to a paid league, these rule changes should and need to be ironed out this season so you guys can have smooth running year to year with very little adjustments.
