it's best to wait for the other function to be fixed.
opening one bug might lead to another and it's not urgent.

Adding the logo to the temporary header will not cause any bugs.

3
I've tried to reload the banner but the site won't save and upload it when I press "save" ... I've stopped trying

Feel free to let us know where the banner is and we can add it to the league's header.  The Franchise NHL header that you are trying to edit is broke and is under repair, but the other header works and can be edited but only by site admin.

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Archives / Re: Some questions

The amount of involvement in some of the strategic discussions of this league and the fact that it is now led by a staff member ensure the league is not dead.

Great. We need the team pg links created with
proper Conference
proper new division alignment using new NHL alignment

Here's one source of reference:
http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=89609.msg494354#msg494354

I can drop the other necessary banner + pg links back. it's the 30 teams pg links, icons that take forever ... let us know ETA. thx

Updated. :judge:

uhm, i understand this is a free use site... of course you sold ppl like me on the concept of a free "pro" league site.

i would rather whoever broke it to just forget the diagnostic and manually put back what was there. seems reasonable versus waiting "several weeks" while your other new functionality is being built. can that happen?

See the HelpDesk as I have offered to do this over the past several days.  Once you provide appropriate direction of what images, links, etc... should be in the header then we should be able to make the changes fairly quick.

Franchise GM: Original Rules / Trades
« on: June 22, 2011, 10:38:02 PM »
Trades
League has a trade deadline that corresponds with MLB.  Trades reopen in the offseason.  Cash exchanges are allowed to be made within deals as long as it does not exceed annual salary in given year of contract.  Cash exchanges must follow a given player in a trade at all times.  Signing bonuses, however, stay on the books of the franchise that signed such a prospect.

League Openings / Looking for a League? [General Waiting List]
« on: April 05, 2011, 09:36:44 PM »
Are you looking for a league, but you aren't exactly sure what you want?  Feel free to post here listing what you want in a league (sport, free/money, contracts, dynasty/keeper/redraft, scoring service, new/existing).  Expect a reply to this thread and/or PMs from Commissioners who need GMs.

Franchise GM: Original Rules / Scoring System*
« on: October 09, 2010, 09:58:10 PM »
Scoring
We found a way to value player's contributions to run creation and run prevention in a Bill James manner that correlates to the game as much as possible.  James' research concluded that 47% / 17% / 36% of wins comes from hitting / fielding / pitching, respectively.  You will see these ratios in the breakdown of the stats in ranges of players.

The batting stats were largely based on the old metric Runs Created, but it was tweaked to reflect more consistent hitters who have higher AVG / OBP.  The weights for batting are:

At-Bat, AB: -10
Hit, H: 10
Single, 1B: 24
Double, 2B: 36
Triple, 3B: 48
Homerun, HR: 60
Walk, BB: 20.4
Grounded-into-Double Play, GIDP: -18
Hit-by-pitch, HBP: 20.4
Sacrifice Fly, SF: 6
Sacrifice Hit, SH: 6
Stolen Base, SB: 6
Caught Stealing, CS: -12

Fielding was the toughest one to mimic as players may be open to multiple positions.  In the end, we kept eligibility at 20 games played in this season and last season for any one position.  Defensive weights had to be different per position though.

Catchers
Error, E: -32
Games Played, GP: 4.8

Corner Infielders
Assist, A: 4.48
E: -32
Putout, PO: 0.48

Middle Infielders
A: 1.28
E: -32
PO: 2.4

Outfielders
A: 6.4
E: -32
GP: 4.8

There are no defensive points awarded to players in the Utility position or for pitchers.  Pitching stats are much more simple and rely on four metrics: Ground Balls, Walks, Home Runs Allowed, and Strikeouts.  The stats are designed so there is no bias given to control nor power pitchers.

Pitchers scoring

(S: sabermetric indicator, A: actual performance indicator):

GB (S) +1.5 points
HR (A) -7.5 points
BB (S, A) -3.25 points
K (S, A), 5.25 points
IP (A) 6.42
ER (A) -3 points
H (A) -1.5 points

IP Limit - 65
Innings pitched for each team will be monitored by members of the EC.
A 3 strike rule for innings overages is structured as follows
 - 1st and 2nd time offense - loss of points over 65
 - 3rd time offense - loss of points over 65 plus an additional 100 points for the week
 - 4th time and after - loss of all pitching scoring for that week

  • jimw: I think the NBA goes one team at a time to give the one team a better talent pool in the expansion draft and also to keep the teams from complaining about losing more players
