The reason we made this trade is Sanchez is in the final year of his contract and would have to compete with all the other clubs to resign him. Garza is Arbitration eligible for 2yrs so adding that extra year was worth it, even though Matt had a down year we believe he will bounce back. Depending on the offseason free agent signees, Matt is scheduled to be our fourth or fifth starter and we believe Matt is a very good option at that point.

The reason I am making this trade is we are getting major league ready talent. We are also opening up two spots in our bullpen for some more of our youngsters as they continue to develope. I know that losing Dominguez will hurt at third with his defense but we believe that Freese will stay healthy and has more potential with his bat. Yelich was not someone we really wanted to give up and believe he will have a bright future but we are excited about who we are getting in return. Theriot is projected to be at short to take over hanley's spot with the david price trade for the time being unless something major changes. We love his determination and his team first outlook that he has shown thoughout his career. Craig has hit at every level he has been at and is showing the promise that we believe in. We feel he has the talent potential to be the next Matt Holliday. Whether these three start or come off the bench we feel we have strengthened our team as a whole.
