Extension Values Will Not Change Next Year BUT Will Change in the Future

The contract extension values will not change next season.
 
Putting the salary list together by position is an extremely time-consuming exercise.  I was hoping to lessen the burden by leveraging off the other leagues, but I found out that the other leagues were not intending to update the extension values.  In reality, only one position with Mauer at catcher has significantly changed, so this exercise would not have a material impact to the existing numbers.

Also, people had the current numbers in mind, so it would not be fair to change them at this point.

After further thought, this may be a worthwhile exercise in the future, because it would prevent teams from re-signing their stars at out-dated contracts.  For example, Hamilton could sign at a value greater than the current high salary of 22.5m this off-season, and Cano will probably garner far more than the current high of 19m at MI next year. 

Moreover, my initial thought of our own league setting the market values was not correct, because most of the elite players will never reach free agency.  Therefore, the most probable means of establishing their salaries is through the re-sign values.

I will attempt to re-calculate the re-sign values of 2-3 positions per year starting next year.
